Just as a camp note(s)...

The Texas A&M quarterback won the event. And, the Aggies may be the worst team in the Big 12 this upcoming season.

Greg finished just below aTm's Johnson. He also won overall competition versus a few names you'll recognize—Jevan Snead, Colt McCoy and Sam Bradford.

NOW, if this note is of any significance is something I'll leave to your judgment. Jonathan Crompton didn't do well at all at the camp.

Another QB had a horrible time with his accuracy...one Tyrod Taylor who we happened to have the chance to see in a certain game this fall. ;)

Ahhhh, now I understand! Thanks Terry...that's some pretty impressive company at that camp.

People talk about 2 weak spots about this upcoming team this year...the OL and the new QB. I'm beginning to feel a little more comfortable with the idea of Greg's capabilities...especially if the OL can come together and give our RB's some running lanes and Greg some time in the pocket.

I've got a piece for the blog I'm about finished with dealing strictly with James Carpenter.

I suspect, you'll find just as much encouragement from that as you do from what you've been hearing about Greg.

I did.

wow! this is definitely uplifting news.

That is great news. I'm glad Greg is getting to show his ability and I'm confident he has the tools to lead this team. I guess the only thing that worries me about GM is his somewhat slow release though. With the possibility of having a offensive line being poor at pass blocking in the early season, it could spell trouble. This is where Coach McElwain comes in I believe, he made JP look great at times last season with his play selection.

Just something for you to chew on...

Two QB's, with two of the slowest releases I've seen in Div. 1 play in a long time...

Out of 818 attempts last year, they threw a combined 13 INT's, 75 TD's, and averaged 67-68% completions.

Both had good accuracy, but had very good timing—and timing is what I think is Greg's greatest attribute.

Tebow and Harrell...

---Before someone jumps off the deep end here...we are talking about a QB's release which doesn't equate, in its entirety, to how quickly a QB gets a ball out of the pocket. I'm talking about from the beginning of the throwing motion until the ball is released.---

Where can i find a article with these camp notes?

I don't know that you can.

I got the info from one of the camp directors that I met back in the late '90's when he was working for the Sugar Bowl Committee...he's just an acquaintance I exchange email with every few weeks.

FWIW, just to add another note...in our email exchange the majority of the conversation wasn't on how Greg performed, but on how he handled himself as a player, a competitor and as a person.

Not a bad comparison. Both Tebow and Harrell had slow releases but also had a lot of intangibles that made them very productive. Maybe it's just something I'm over analyzing, I still think he'll be great for us this season either way.
