🏈 Gene Stallings: Remembering 1992 national championship

It's hard to believe it's been 20 years since that season. I remember watching the season opener against Vanderbilt which was the SEC early game (11:30 am start) that week on TBS. For some strange reason, we actually kicked off to Vanderbilt in both the first and second half that day. To this day, I still don't know why or how that happened.

I don't remember that. I do remember Procter kicking field goals over and over and it seemed Vandy fumbled about every possession.

I know, that's an exaggeration, but I also remember they dropped the ball at least five times, maybe six. It was one of those "Vandy" games. They had the ball about an entire quarter more than we did. A lot of that had to do with the number of times they ran the ball. I'd bet it is still one of the all time records of opponent attempts rushing against us.

I have that game on VHS. It's one of those I haven't converted to DVD yet. But, on the game tape I have it says it was a JP broadcast. You must have not been in Birmingham then. (Yeah, I looked up where you were posting from. )
