I just finished the book ..
WOW. So well-written. Really painted a beautiful, but scary portrait of a small West Texas town in the late 1980s .. I felt like I was there .. Reading this book on my break was like traveling back in time onto a gridiron.

The ending .. PAIN. SO much pain. Can't believe those crooks from Dallas beat them .. AWFUL! They shouldn't have even been in the playoffs in the first place! This is why, as much as I love and adore football, I worry about academics playing second fiddle .. Stuff like that just shows why we continue to fall behind the rest of the world .. But UGHHHH. Cannot believe the end. I watched the TV show, so I thought maybe the ending of season 1 would be similar to the ending of the book, but nooooope. Ugh. I feel like someone just died lol.
