College football analyst and former Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville joined me and Lee Shirvanian on “The Opening Kickoff” on WNSP-FM 105.5 Tuesday. He answered the question.
“There’s no doubt Tua,” Tuberville said. "He can throw the football, and that’s what you have to do.
"Jalen’s got a lot of work to do. I’ve been around that system Lincoln Riley runs. He doesn’t run many plays. He runs 4 or 5 plays. It’s a very simple system. Jalen will learn it very quickly. The problem he’s got is he has to throw the ball down the field consistently 15 or 20 yards down the field with deep crossing routes.
“The reason he got beat out at Alabama was because of that reason.”
Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and new Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts among a group listed as favorites to win Heisman Trophy.
