He will get calls and likely a raise out of it if nothing else. IMO, Florida is a possibility, but I'm not sure the appetite for him is very big given his record against ranked teams.

Agree. I think Drink has taken Mizzou as far as he can. His ego may lead him to a iob where he'll be in over his head, or he'll negotiate for a raise and get paid for being above average...at best.

Just looked and he's making $9 million a year which is pretty damn good. I didn't realize it was that much. Really at that amount, they are already overpaying him based on results, but maybe they'd go $10 million? Or maybe he negotiates for other stuff.... NIL, upgrades, etc. But I'd have to be forced with a gun to my head to pay him $10 million, and even then, I'd think hard about it. He just reminds me of a Spurrier and Mullen mix breed, so I think UF would be a fit.

Betting on the anybody but Saban candidate is easy money. He’s not going to LSU and he’s not going back to coaching.

No idea if true but it is absolutely what I would do if I were in the corndogs shoes. They have connections with him so if there was even a remote chance I would throw the $$ at Mrs Terry. Yeah I know they do not need the money but if there was even a crack in the door I would try and bust the door down. Get 4-5 years out of him would fix the issues immedietly,

Why would he want the headache of dealing with NIL and the constant turnover with players? That's why he left Bama. I just do not see him going back into the mess of college football today. I could be 100% wrong though.

Their acting AD shut this down last week. It's not happening.

Just depends on what he wants... more security or a better chance to win titles. Pros and cons to either way. But UF and PSU are both considering him so he may end up having to make that choice.

I'm going to use this to share a thought or two I've had lately.

We always have said, "the right fit." That's true. I've come to think there is one more thing and that is "they get it." Kelly is a good example in a lot of regards. His style? That's the right fit. He didn't "get it" when it came to Louisiana and their culture. I look at Tom Herman and I still think he's a good coach. But, he definitely "didn't get it" when it came to Texas and her culture.

Drink, at PSU? The political and academic climate at PSU? He'd "get it." The fit? I can't see his personality and Penn State football: Franklin was better there. UF? If he were to get that position and start clowning around like he has? I'd think it would turn that fan base off, quickly. The Mullen days are too fresh.

Im pretty certain they've done this, and he has already told them "no." Plus, let's just think about this for a second for anyone who may feel he would take the job. He retired from a dynasty that he created, and was still getting us championships and getting into the playoffs. He walked away from that, and that's due to the current landscape of college football. And it's gotten worse imo, why would he want to come back into something that he originally hated so much, that it made him retire? And not to mention, for LSU? Hell no. Especially not now, they have completely fucked themselves over with how they have handled this whole coaching change. I've seen/heard LSU fans bring up "his love for LSU", and how he regretted leaving from there. That's not the case, he regretted leaving college football, he missed developing players on and off the field and having the gratification of doing so. That why he ultimately came to Alabama, to rectify that regret. And boy did he ever.

And just a few more points. Going back to the LSU fans and their claims about him loving LSU so much. Saban and his family spent 17 years in Tuscaloosa, they are fully engrained into that place. WAY more than LSU. Not to mention the statue, the field being named after him, the new facility that they're building for the youth that's in his name. Again, fully engrained. Plus, he's 74 years old. Has infinite wealth, done everything you could possibly do in this sport as a head coach.

The LSU AD is a dumbass . He’s probably trying to figure out how to cover up the next scandal. I’d love to see LSU back in the desert like the 80’s & 90’s

I think we hit on this many pages ago, but teams (LSU included) have absolutely reached out to Saban (in this case, Sexton) just to make sure. M ost of them would have been dumb not to try. There have been zero negotiations, only hard "no's".

@TerryP I agree completely with "the right fit" and "they get it." Many coaches are one or the other but few have both qualities. Excellent points.

JMO but trying to find really good football HC's is growing harder and harder but no way near as difficult as it will be in 5-7 years.

This is societal issue with both coaches and the player pool.

Definitely is...coach I know told me several years ago he was appalled at the number of "coaches" at a coaching clinic with....earrings, tattoos, facial hair, long hair etc. I'm sure this has no bearing on their ability to coach though....
