I'll say this about Golesh... dude was in a tough spot. Take Durkin, and it looks like they made you do it (I don't believe that is the case here, but I know the auburn admin is happy about it and that was the result they badly wanted). Don't take him, and you're going to end up with a lesser quality DC. This will help with roster retention, which was very important to Cohen, but IMO was overrated in their case. I'm also a bit surprised that Durkin didn't seriously pursue other jobs... he's more than rehabbed his image at this point from his "punishment" and while the SEC is too big of a job for him, some place like Memphis isn't.

It's obvious he didn't feel this way, but if I were a coach taking a head coaching position, and that job wanted me to retain a guy I didn't want.... I wouldn't take that job. You're not going to force someone on my staff.
 

I'm sure he'd love to retain him.... but, he Baker gets the offer from Tulane. He's gone.
