I also just realized that the officers in both seasons are named "Solverson" but live in different states.

That was a "wait, what?" moment for me this season. One of many.

I am just completely ignoring the ufo thing. Like it didn't happen at all.

LOL, yes season 1 and season 2 are connected. They've hinted at it a few times during the season, very subtle hints. The last episode does a better job connecting the two.

I think I do like it better than season 1. I like BBT's character the best overall, but this season has just been phenomenal.

Aw man....now I'm confused. I thought they both lived in Minnesota. Trooper Solverson owns & runs the diner in season 1 and Molly is his daughter in season 2 that grows up to be a deputy in Bemidji in season 1...right?

Yeah, you just forgot about it. He realized the waitress left the diner and he went outside to gun her down. After he did that these lights in the distance appeared and were above him, then it left quickly. Then Peggy hits him with the car.
