I'd love to hear officials explain how Maze got a penalty for his celebration, but there wasn't ONE called against West Virginia last night. That rule needs some serious clarification.

The WVU player did his mini celebration and then walked off. Had Maze done his pose to the fans right after he scored it would not have been called, but he then returned to the end zone and did it -- thus the penalty.

^^good point

I think if you do it right after a TD, then you'll be OK as long as its not excessive (Richt/UGA).

What bothers me is to see someone make a clean open field tackle and jump up and run 10 yards downfield away from the play and not get flagged. How is that not drawing attention to yourself. I agree that the should be allowed to enjoy the moment but don't stand around and pose or run away from everyone once you've made a great play.

Perhaps... but you're acting like i'm referring to just one of their TD's. I say let them celebrate, but I thought they were a little more boastful than Maze... and I'm not implying that Maze didn't deserve the penalty. The refs even stopped McCoy when all he was doing was pointing up.

Just from what I've seen this season, there were two times WVU scored last night, and I was looking for the flag. Esp. considering it was Wagers crew.

It looked to me like Maze was out of the endzone. I could be wrong. I agree it was silly of him, but at the same time, it was the 1st TD the kid ever got and he was excited. Of course that doesn't make it right. I'm sure he's learned his lesson and it WON'T happen again.

Part of the problem I have w/ all this is the double standards that defenses are allowed grandstanding but offenses are treated w/ a higher, more stringent standard.

:x

My view on it is this.............These kids go out and play their hearts out.....right now they get no compensation for it.........they get a education but its not free and they earn it. The school on the other hand makes millions off these kids......if they want to celebrate let them......just as long as it's in a respectful manner. What Maze did was not disrespectful to NO ONE. Just my view
