Wondering if any one caught that Danny Etling from LSU got drafted but JT Barrett of OSU didn't. Did Etling have relatives in the Cowboy organization that pulled some strings? If I had been making that choice I would have selected Barrett way before even considering Etling. At least Barrett could run but his passing was inconsistent. Etling couldn't do either. I don't understand unless they thought Barrett was damaged goods because of his injury.

Probably just a situation of them seeing he has all the tools (big arm, size, etc.) and think if he had competent coaches they might be able to develop him. He will be out of the league in 3 years IMO, though.

What sucked was that a kid that was as awful as he was in college got drafted yet the kid from Troy, Brandon Silvers, who has all of those same tools plus he was actually accurate and didn't make stupid throws and was actually successful in college has to go to a try-out camp.

The knock on Barrett has always been he isn't accurate, has a noodle arm and has a pretty lousy throwing motion/release. Either he will end up as a "slash" type player that can play receiver/slot and quarterback in some 'Wildcat' packages or he'll be playing in that new AAF league next year.

Bottom line: if you win in big-time college football, you have potential to do something in the NFL. Look at Coker, Croyle and Sims. These weren't exceptionally gifted QBs, but they got opportunities in the pros either through the draft, UDFA or a position change.
