Alabama's Dee Milliner, projected to be the top cornerback in this draft and a top-five selection, will undergo surgery on a torn labrum in his right shoulder after this week's scouting combine, according to league sources.

However, even with the injury, Milliner will do every workout drill at the combine except for the bench press and there is optimism about his availability for training camp.

"The doctors have informed us that he will be 100 percent and fully recovered in time for training camp in July," said Tony Fleming, one of Milliner's reps with Impact Sports. "We will be providing all NFL clubs information prior to surgery and updates close to the draft."

Milliner suffered the injury at some point last season and played with and through it. It will not prevent him from participating in this week's combine, but it will sideline him from Alabama's Pro Day.

One reason Milliner is considered a likely top-five pick is because every team picking high needs help at the cornerback position and he was considered the best of a solid group that also includes Florida State's Xavier Rhodes, Mississippi State's Johnthan Banks, and Washington's Desmond Trufant.

The story of this season's combine before it has begun is injuries. USC quarterback Matt Barkley will not throw due to a shoulder injury and Milliner's college teammate Eddie Lacy, projected to be the top running back in this draft, will not work out due to a hamstring injury.

Holy cow, he and Ed Reed both played this year with torn labrums. I tore my labrum (all the way around the shoulder tho) last Summer and good lord I gotta give these guys respect, it literally feels like someone is sticking knives in your shoulder to even try and lift it. You can hear the ligaments clicking anytime you move the arm too. A quick scope and he'll be good, likely be done with rehab before the middle of the summer.
