Former Lacrosse star ready to return to Alabama
Casey Rogers
, defensive end from Avon Old Farms School in Connecticut, is a former Syracuse Lacrosse commitment. Rogers decided his passion for playing football at the next level outweighed playing lacrosse. His father (Lelan Rogers) is an assistant coach in Lacrosse for the Orangemen.
"I committed to play Lacrosse at Syracuse my sophomore year," Rogers said. "My dad is a coach there. I have played both spots my entire life. I've always been pretty successful in both. Lacrosse is a lot bigger than football in upstate New York.
"It just wasn't in my heart to play Lacrosse in college. I love everything about it. I just had football in my heart. I decommitted pretty late and that hurt as far as recruiting goes. I decided to take a post-grad year to get some more exposure.
"I am so happy I made this decision. It has been great. I have graduated from high school, and I am only doing a post-graduate year. It does not hurt my eligibility at all. I can leave here whenever. I can graduate early or leave in the spring."
The decision on when he will enroll in college depends on what transpires in the next few weeks. He will take an official visit to Ohio State on December 8 followed by an official visit to Alabama on December 15. Alabama tight ends coach Joe Pannunzio visited Rogers on Wednesday.

"I can't tell you how excited I am about visiting Alabama again," he said. "Their tight ends coach (Pannuzio) came to our school today (Wednesday). I spoke to him for a little bit. Coach Brian Daboll is probably coming up here next week.
"The visit went good. We had a good conversation. My prep school, Avon Old Farms, is a very unique campus. It's really cool. You almost feel like you are in Hogwarts (Harry Potter reference). He started talking about how cool the school is. He is really excited to get me down to Tuscaloosa. I told him I can't wait."
So where do things stand with the Crimson Tide in regards to an offer?
"As of now, they have me coming down for an official visit," Rogers said. "When I was at camp I performed very well. They tried me at outside linebacker, tight end and defensive end. When I spoke to Coach Saban after the camp he told me they wanted to watch how I performed during the season and if things turn out the way they are supposed to they would bring me down for an official visit.
"Alabama is recruiting me more as an athlete. I talked to Coach Daboll. He likes me as a tight end. Coach Dunbar likes me on the defensive line. Coach Tosh Lupoi likes me as an outside linebacker. It depends on who you talk to.
I honesty just grew up as a football player. I was always on small teams. I grew up playing both ways. It's just part of the game. I never had experience just playing one position. I think I have a defensive mindset because I like to hit people and get to the ball. I also think I have good hands. I think because of how athletic I am I can be successful playing tight end as well."
The 6-f0ot-5, 250-pound athlete said he was disappointed with the loss in the Iron Bowl on Saturday.
"I kept up with Alabama throughout the season," he said. "I was bummed when they were out of the top four. They played a really tough game against Auburn. I think everything will turn out good for them still. No matter what happens Bama is still Bama. They are going to still be the same great team."
Rogers has enjoyed developing a strong relationship with Alabama since the summer.
“I love their coaching staff," he said. "Coach Saban knows how to run a good ship. The coaching staff is very personal and friendly. Coach Daboll talked to my father for a while when we were down there.
"Coach Lupoi really took the time to help me out. I thought he really taught and helped me out a lot at outside linebacker. It's just a very personal staff. They made me feel welcomed. I am from upstate New York, so to have the opportunity to visit and talk to the coaches down there was life changing. They were really nice to my father and me. It was just amazing."
Rogers expects his parents to join him during the official visit to Alabama in two weeks. His father may have to leave early for his own recruiting purposes.

Hearing a few prospects have really moved up on the recruiting board for Alabama after Nick Saban has evaluated a lot of senior film the last few days.
Malik Langham. (Alabama has serious interest in Malik Langham, three-star defensive end from Lee High School in Huntsville. Will not surprise me if he receives an offer.Langham has always been a guy Alabama liked.
Trey Dean, four-star cornerback from Dutchtown High School in Hampton, Georgia (Tennessee commitment) Dean will take an official visit to Alabama this weekend.
Jeremy Pruitt will have an in-home visit with Quay Walker this evening.
Hearing the visit with Bobby Brown could not have been any better.
Alabama believes it has a real shot to flip him.
Alabama is no longer recruiting Caleb Trembaly.
Heard things went really well today with Nadab Joseph and Josh Jobe. Alabama definitely has a shot with Jobe. I still expect Nadab to join the class.

Bama may miss on some DL but the plan is to take 2-3 additional guys. Alabama thinks it has a good shot at Barmore. Tyler Friday is in play. Hopefully I’ll know a little more about the visit with Bobby Brown in the morning.

What it means for Bama Recruiting: Jimbo Fisher departs FSU for Texas A&M
Most Alabama fans want to know what this possibly means for Jaylen Waddle, Rivals100 wide receiver from Episcopal High School in Houston, Texas. Texas A&M and Florida State have been among Waddle's finalists since early September. It seemed like a recruiting battle between Alabama and Texas A&M for while, but he also has a very good relationship with Jimbo Fisher.
I know there has been some talk this week regarding Waddle possibly going to A&M with Fisher heading to College Station to become the head coach. I am sure those rumors will continue. I think the only reason people (in Texas) are saying A&M is in good shape now with Waddle is because they know FSU was a finalist. I don't believe it has any merit to this point.
Alabama remains in very good shape with Waddle. Nick Saban met with the elite WR on Wednesday. It will take a lot for Waddle to go elsewhere IMO. Very high confidence in Tuscaloosa. Alabama has done a great job.
Alabama will get an official visit next weekend from FSU commitment AJ Lytton, Rivals100 cornerback from Wise High School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. There is some serious interest in both sides. We will know a little bit more after the visit. It will not surprise me if we see a decommitment from Lytton prior to his trip to Tuscaloosa.
Alabama will also bring in Robert Cooper, four-star defensive tackle from South Gwinnett High School in Snellville, Georgia, for an official visit. Cooper is below a few other DL targets right now (Barmore, Friday, T.Smith). Alabama likes him, but will probably need to miss on others before accepting a commitment.
Bobby Brown, four-star defensive tackle from Lamar High School in Arlington, Texas, has an in-home visit on Wednesday with Nick Saban (along with Tosh Lupoi and Karl Dunbar). Brown will likely wait to see what happens with A&M DL coach Terry Price before he makes a final decision. He will also want to meet with Coach Fisher. Alabama made a very strong move with him on Wednesday. Tough decision ahead. Major need for the Tide.
Some have said Alabama made a very strong move for Texas A&M Max Wright, Rivals100 defensive end from Taylor High School in Katy, Texas, the other day. Wright is considering an official visit to Alabama in January. However, there really isn't anything to suggest he is considering a flip at this point. He seems very locked in with the Aggies despite the coaching situation. I spoke with a few sources in Tuscaloosa who said there is basically no shot to flip him. We'll see if things change if Terry Price is not retained by Fisher.

Bobby Brown, four-star defensive tackle from Lamar High School in Arlington, Texas, has an in-home visit on Wednesday with Nick Saban (along with Tosh Lupoi and Karl Dunbar). Brown will likely wait to see what happens with A&M DL coach Terry Price before he makes a final decision. He will also want to meet with Coach Fisher. Alabama made a very strong move with him on Wednesday. Tough decision ahead. Major need for the Tide.
Some have said Alabama made a very strong move for Texas A&M Max Wright, Rivals100 defensive end from Taylor High School in Katy, Texas, the other day. Wright is considering an official visit to Alabama in January. However, there really isn't anything to suggest he is considering a flip at this point. He seems very locked in with the Aggies despite the coaching situation. I spoke with a few sources in Tuscaloosa who said there is basically no shot to flip him. We'll see if things change if Terry Price is not retained by Fisher.

Javier Morton, 2020 cornerback from Stephenson High School in Stone Mountain, Georgia, informed me on Friday night he committed to the University of Alabama.
Morton said he spoke with Alabama DBs coach Derrick Ansley about his decision. He has not spoken with Nick Saban. A commitment is not official until a prospect speaks to Coach Saban. Coach Ansley said he hopes to get the two on the phone together soon.
I have not been able to confirm this evening if Nick Saban will go ahead and accept his commitment. Hopefully, I will know something soon.

Great thread Bama16... Sure appreciate the updates.
Is it just me or is Savion Smith about the most important guy in the class?? With all the DB replacements in the works, having 5 star talent WITH COLLEGE EXPERIENCE seems like the biggest priority.
Don't blame Asa Martin for sticking with the Boogs... KJ had an amazing year. And they don't have the depth. That being said I'm suuuuuper excited for the Jacobs/Harris/Robinson trio next season. TBH I'm not very excited about the 3 star kid from Florida's tape but Burton Burns knows a little more than ya boy so I'll let it slide.... For now
Lineman... Lineman.. And more lineman. We need em'. Bring on some big bad DL's. Preferably a juco kid or two also. And some interrior studs on the OL would be helpful. Center position seems up in the air following this season... Kennedy then...? And even Kennedy is coming off an injury.
Need to get caught up on some of the highlights. Love this time of year in recruiting. RTR

Watched some film on the guy and he has something you can't teach..... pure speed. Similar to Travis Etienne of Clemson and "Da Drake" of BAMA.

No doubt he has great speed. Most of his highlights are receiving... I just don't see an SEC type RB that fits our style... Doesn't finish the run plowing forward. We've already got the kid from Louisiana that is more of a slot WR type also.
Next HCIW since mama called Kirby home?
If he stays past next year, I think that's a safe bet.
I honestly don't think Dabo would leave Clemson, even if mama DID call when Saban goes to the lake.
