šŸˆ December 1905: The Big Ten decides that 50 cents should be the maximum amount of money charged for football tickets

The average wage in the United States was 22 cents an hour, with the average worker earning around $200-$400 a year. The average veterinarian earned somewhere between $1,500-$4,000 a year. A good accountant might earn up to $2,000 a year, with dentists averaging around $2,500 per year. Mechanical engineers could earn close to $5,000.

100 years ago the average family had to put in two hours of work two to afford a ticket.
In today's terms ...what's that balance out to? Four hours of work for the average guy? Or, a two income family having to work two hours a piece?

There's not a great deal of difference over the last 100 years.

I was thinking @TerryP .......for a lot of big 10 games..... even these days...
Just as one of those "did you know's" that won't garner a dime in your bank account.

It was the Big Nine back then and all but one of the nine remain in the conference. Chicago was that one member and has dropped down to DIII now as a football only member of the Midwest Conference. But here's the really neat thing ...

Chicago was coached at the time (through a 41 year stint there) by the one and only Amos Alonzo Stagg.
