I guess they're going off of what Arkansas lost and that their O-line having no improvement from last year. I'm surprised that AJ is higher than E.J Manuel, Florida State getting much love and saying without a real running game, they'll rely on EJ a lot more

I think AJ has a chance to break some records but because of the way we play ball and the fact that if we're up by 30+ in the 4th quarter he'll either be handing the ball off on every down or Sims/Ely will be taking snaps at QB he wont have a legit chance... while some of those other players will still be tossing 50 yard bombs up by 40. Not naming no names...

I'd have to say Barkley and Ball are the biggest favorites to win.

Barkley has the "love" factor going for him this fall.

Ball, can play ball. If he continues with the success this year he's had in the past he deserves the trophy. Any football fan would love to have him in their teams' backfield.

I think Barkley should win it outright, because he has a tan and he is in California, where the media loves everyone from that state. Ball will do ok too, due to the fact that it's too cold to throw in Wisconsin. Lotsa carries for the RB (he is GOOD, no doubt).

AJ will break every passing record at Alabama before he leaves, just as I said before he got to the Capstone.... And please don't be surprised when he is sitting in NY, waiting to see if he won the Heisman. The guys listed ahead of him will drop if we play them. That's what happens 100% of the time, as of these last few years. Everyone looks great in their clean uniforms, playing the "Oregon's" of the world, until our defense gets after your azz. It is then that our opponents tend to look like a deer in the headlights.

Barkley is one of those said QBs who will still be chunking it around the yard if they're up by 40. His coach is all about the flash! Ball deserves the trophy IF he puts up the numbers he did last season. I think that he might possibly woulda won it IF it hadn't been for some piss poor defensive play at the end of games. AJ will put up good numbers and break school records but he won't be in NYC come December.

I predict Barkley wins and USC plays Bama for the title, wherein the Tide breaks Barkley in half and Jessie sprints into the end zone with the top half of his lifeless body for a touchdown to put Bama up by 30 in the second quarter.

AJ having better odds than Lacy shocks me.

D-Rob will have to murder week one to stay afloat. Pre-emptively atone for his later mistakes, as it were. Not saying I give him any sort of chance for that.

Too much of an unknown with Lacy I suspect. I'm not referring to his toe, but the point most look at the running game as being at least a three back group if not four. It's going to be one of the more interesting story lines of September and October I believe.

You read my mind... I dont blame Barkley tho, I blame the asshat on the sideline. Barkley is a great QB and with the weapons he has on the outside, hes gonna do damage. If I had to say ANYONE is a lock for NY I'd say its Barkley. Ball is the best back in the country but I think with the pounding he will definitely take you can't put him as a "lock" to be there, but if he stays healthy I have no doubt he will be. The other finalists are the question. Its kinda up in the air. I think last year most folks woulda said Luck was the sure thing while Richardson was in Ball's spot.

reports saying Montee Ball got jumped by 5 guys, wondering how this story is gonna play out.

Badgers' Montee Ball Hospitalized following Assault
The Madison Police Department says a 21-year old man was attacked while walking in the 500 block of University Ave. early this morning. The University of Wisconsin has confirmed the victim is Badgers running back, Montee Ball.

Witnesses said five men jumped Ball, knocked him to the ground and kicked him. Ball was taken to a hospital with head injuries. It does not appear he knew his attackers and this is being investigated as an unprovoked assault.

The criminals were last seen running south on N. Frances St. toward the Kohl Center. The attack happened just after 2 a.m. on Wednesday.

Statement from Wisconsin head football coach Bret Bielema

"My concern right now is for Montee's health and well-being. Montee has been released from the hospital and is under the care and supervision of our sports medicine staff. We will continue to evaluate him as we approach the start of fall camp this weekend. I do expect Montee to make a full recovery."

Listening to radio earlier and Andy Staples said that this was actually a second incident involving Ball this summer. Earlier, he was arrested for refusing to get off of someone's porch. It may have been at a party and he wasn't invited. Who knows? FSU DB Greg Reid was booted from the team, teammate and fellow DB ? Hunter, threatens police via Twitter, Isaiah Crowell kicked to the curb, Mike Dyer sent packing again, etc. It's been a crazy summer! You can tell everyone is eager for practice to start, keep better track of players.

It was the second incident although that "arrest" ended up being a $400+ ticket for trespassing during a block party. There were A LOT of citation issued that day so him getting one really isn't out of the norm. Refusing to leave a porch is what it boiled down to...who knows.

As soon as I saw this pop up today a red flag started waving in my head. Five guys jumping him out of the blue? OK, there are such things as mistaken identity...but, the chances get slim when it's on a main drag running through campus. Then again, 2:15 in the morning...who knows how dark it was?

Last I saw he had a concussion. As long as it isn't severe, he should be ready to go week one.

I glimpsed at a report last night at work mentioning something about witnesses saying "words were exchanged" between the group and Ball.

I wish I would have made a note where it came from, but forgot to come back to it later. It seemed, based on their statements, the chances of it being "unprovoked" aren't as accurate as some have led readers to believe. :confused-smiley-013
