From South Carolina rivals board about Bama:
"The moment where he raised both thumbs was exciting but I would rather not of had to see it while his head was immobilized. I read and wrote all week about how physical Alabama was but that one made me realize those boys take hard-hitting to a new level."
"When's the last time you saw a defense give up 246 rushing yards to one person and then you turned to your buddy and said, "You know what? Those boys played one hell of a game."
"The kid got slammed five times and hurried eight times, yet still had the presence of mind to avoid three Crimson Tide defenders who were intent on sending him back to Tampa in a plastic bag, run to his left and toss a first down to Weslye Saunders. His stats were nowhere close to pretty, but that'll happen against Alabama's defense. "
"Garcia was 0-for-5 trying to throw the fade touchdown to Alshon Jeffery. Apparently, the Crimson Tide's secondary is a lot better than Kentucky's backups.
I don't understand why the play kept getting called. It was kind of obvious Alabama was expecting it, like on the fifth one, where Marquis Johnson leaped over Jeffery's head and spiked the ball to the ground hard enough to make Charles Barkley proud."
"Alabama has a terrific defense. I don't think there's anybody who knows that now more than USC's offensive line.
The Gamecocks' front was hammered all evening, constantly letting defenders run past, over or through them to pressure Garcia. A lot of it was a shakeup -- Heath Batchelor not being there forced Jarriel King inside and Kyle Nunn to the blindside; T.J. Johnson had to play almost all of the game because his backup was a true freshman with no snaps to his name -- and a lot of it was the Crimson Tide are good."
"Quarterback Stephen Garcia sustained a mild twisted knee but should be ready to play the next weekend", Spurrier said.
"He's OK. He just sort of got kicked or fell on it or whatever," Spurrier said. "Alabama is a very clean team. After watching the tape, a lot of guys could have taken some hard shots at Stephen right after he threw the ball but they veered off and didn't clobber him near as badly as some teams have."
