i got a group of about 8 or so trying to go a head and make arrangements for our opening game in Allbarn. I went in 2011 but was still in school then and had a buddy at auburn we crashed with and whatnot. Just looking for suggestions on where to stay? And tailgate? Areas to avoid? Ect.

I know this might not be the best place to ask this but figured I'd get more honest answers from yall, and not a bunch of bs "everything is awesome here" if I asked on an auburn site.

I'll go a head and give yall 3 very important tips incase yall are ever unlucky enough to have to visit our little sisters down in Columbia, SC.

1) Make sure you're up to date on your tetinus shots
2)Get a concealed weapons permit (if you don't already have one) and carry the hottest loads available for your caliber gun.
3) Avoid Five Points after dark like the plague.

I have been about 4 games down there and have never stayed overnight in Auburn/Opielika. There are less accommodations there than anywhere. Depending on game time (and you have to guess it won't be too early) you could stay in Columbus, GA around the Bear Ln. area and that would put you in striking distance. Avoid Montgomery like the plague unless you have 8 Navy Seals going with you. If you must do Montgomery, at least stay in the East Boyd area (about 10 miles east of MGM) or go to the Prattville area. Otherwise, the I-459/hwy 280 area of Birmingham will give you plenty of sleeping and eating options. Atlanta would be your other option since you will be coming down I-85 anyway.

Tailgating? Unless you are a UGA fan, they really aren't that bad down on the Plains. If you win big, no worries! They will be long gone by the time you exit the stadium.

I live in The area and a couple of restaurants that are good . Mikita in auburn is great , they use Colby beef , another is good ole boys : it's a steak house in the middle of a cow pasture... As far as night life goes it's been a while since I been out but Sky bar is ok if your in your 20's , they also have live music.... Quixote's is for the older more mature... I've heard that The hound is good as well. If I can b more help by living around here let me know.
