Wow, brought out some infrequent posters on this thread.

In Bham, Avondale Brewing is a good spot, and they have outdoor concerts when the weather's nice. They don't have food but you can bring food in from the soul food place next door.

In Atlanta, my favorite in-house brew pub is 5 Seasons Brewing. They have several locations, the food is farm to table fresh and tasty, and they have a wide range of brews for everyone, not just a hop head like me. They also have grit cakes - essentially a thick slab of grits, seasoned up nice and then battered and fried.

I travel to the Carolinas often, and my favorite brewpub in Columbia, SC is the Hunter-Gatherer. In an old, old building, steps from the capital building, with great food (steaks are awesome), really good beer and live jazz on Thursdays.

Natty Greene's in Greensboro, NC is good, too.
