šŸˆ Can someone convince me why I should pull for Aubrun on Monday night?

I will try to explain my post, however opinions are like A$$holes, everybody has their own. When I am talking to friends in low places, they are saying well, you got beat by Allbarn & Okie so really you guys were overrated. Go back to the strength of schedule and the pundits will say that we didn't play anyone of strength but ATM, LSU, Allbarn, & Okie. Watch the national media after this season and you will see them try to elevate other conferences with excuses like this. We are not in any trouble as long as we continue to take care of business on the field.

Sorry my Crimson Goggles had to be off for this evaluation. I am watching an ESPN countdown to the NC game right now and except for Paul Finebaum, the talk is about how Allbarn is going to get beat by a better team. The perception is an ACC team should be rated better than an SEC team. Sorry I don't believe it.

You've taken your Crimson goggles off and put on what eye-wear?

I can't give you a number on the times I've said I don't believe there are right or wrong opinions; bad and good opinions? Most definitely.

Setting aside your need to rise above the low places you have friends ( kidding here, bear with me) perhaps you need to remind your friends that one second is not even a blink when compared to the health of our program.

Let's step back and look at what's being put forth here. The national media is going to point to strength of schedule to elevate conferences over the SEC? I can't recall an instance where they've said other conferences were stronger.

There was some talk about the PAC's top teams being better than the SEC's when the season started and some suggested the two conferences were on the same plateau. Stanford muted that argument about Oregon, Arizona killed the notion.

There are Big12 fans who want to say the same. Then there's the fact when the two conferences have lined up head to head in the post season (Cotton)—note this is the #2 team from the Big12 versus teams either 3rd in our conference or lower—and the SEC has won 10 of the last 11. (Only Big12 win? Mizzou, in 2007, and where are they now?)

Now, closing these thoughts out, are you saying this or are you stating this is what you suspect some in the media are going to say? You see, I'm not voicing an opinion here even though I am an asshole. I'm just pointing to the facts of the matter. There's only right and wrong with facts.

Piss on the barn. Will not cheer for them no way no how. Ain't gonna happen' capn'. You all have seen the commercial with the Alabama fan and the barn fan in the nursing home. That Bama fan is me!

I'll probably pull for Auburn but won't care if they lose. I asked a question in another thread (the one about AJ wearing orange and blue for game). I'll ask it again. If, at sometime during the season, an Auburn win would help Bama win the SEC West or get in the playoffs or go to a better bowl game, would you pull for the Barn? I've got one "no", which I don't understand. We've pulled for other teams when it benefited the Tide, why not Auburn. Now, an Auburn win Monday night will not benefit us, but I'm not talking about that game. I'm talking about any Auburn win at any time that happens to benefit Alabama.

For me, it's not rooting "for" a team so much as against the opponent. If Auburn played an LSU team who was tied for first with us or something, I'd root for LSU to lose but not actively cheer for Auburn. I just can't lol.

There isn't a reason to root for Auburn. Auburn is our biggest rival. They beat us at home and celebrated like it was the Superbowl. They blanket our entire fan base and call us "Updykes". They obsess constantly with Alabama. They claw and scratch and try and find whatever dirt they can on Alabama to use it against us. They are the epitome of little brothers. Auburn went 50 years without winning a national title, you're telling me you want to root for them for something stupid like "Oh keep it in the state!" or "conference pride!"? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. It benefits Alabama in no way.

So instead of giving you a reason to root for our biggest rivals in NATIONAL TITLE, I'll give you reasons not too:

1. We already have the money
2. Auburn is our biggest rivals and to say someone is rooting for them to win a national title just baffles my mind
3. When has Auburn, other than in the tornado relief, ever shown class to Alabama? You can't other than a few times where on of their "good" fans asked you to politely move over in their seat so there is enough room for their goat.
4. Auburn has rooted against Alabama in every single national title.
5. The whole "keep in state" crap will change the instate recruits perception on Auburn as the "little brother" and make them think they are a program who can go toe-to-toe with Alabama. Not happening.

I can list you 10-100 more, but I won't do that because I really don't need to. You get my point. Rooting for frAUd= rooting against Alabama.

No, I won't. Because in that situation, Alabama would probably have two scenario: Win a game and Auburn beat whomever, or Alabama just win out. And to me, accomplishing that achievement yourselves is much better.

Thanks for the answers, fellas. PhillyGirl's answer makes more sense to me . . . pulling for AU's opponent to lose rather than pulling for AU to win. By the way, I know a whole bunch of Auburn fans that pull for Bama when they're not playing Auburn. You can believe that or not. I understand that Auburn is Bama's rival, but I dpm't hate 'em (except during the Iron Bowl). Now, LSU? I've lived for 35 years down here in So. Louisiana, and my dislike for the Tigers borders on hate, mainly because of their attitude toward Alabama.

As far as an Auburn win at some point helping Bama, it is possible. If, for instance, we're tied for the division championship with someone that Auburn plays and that team has beaten us, we have to win out and Auburn has to beat them for us to win the West. In that scenario, I'd pull for Auburn. Just winning out won't always do it. Of course, going undefeated would also take care of the problem.

I'll probably decide who I'll pull for tomorrow night sometime right after kickoff.

OK I will put on my crimson goggles again. At this point I don't care if allbarn wins or not. I wish both of those teams lose. It is hard for me to pull for the team that has the alleged sexual assault QB. It is an issue with me. If that was not the case I would pull for the Criminoles. Allbarn is the team that exposed our weakness this year and Okie Homer watched the tape 100 times. I like Allbarn because they will help us to to focus on fixing our own problems. I just can't make a choice on who I want to win. How about neither. That is not going to happen so I will pull for the SEC. It does help our state if they beat FuzzSU..... I just don't believe it will happen.

Sorry I didn't read all of your reply.... The media hasn't said anything yet, but they will after the season is over if Allbarn gets blown out. Like Phillygirl said, just pull for FSU to lose. They would have had a field day had Ohio State won their bowl game. Again in no way am I pulling for Allbarn to win. I just hope it is a game that is close.

I am Old School, never ever will I pull for Auburn. I dont even give a rats ass about the SEC.

Agree 100%. Never will I pull for awbarn. There's not anyway the barn winning a NC that helps Bama. I could care less what the country thinks about the SEC and whether or not it's the strongest conference. As long as Bama wins, everything is all right as far as I'm concerned. The only time I want another SEC team to win is if it directly helps Bama.

Call this an observation, or maybe just a question to ponder.

I certainly don't expect you to read everything I post. I most definitely don't expect you to remember everything I've said in the past—I don't.

One thing I do know. If I've said it once I've said it a 1000 times. I don't get caught up or put any weight in the opinions of different media members.

That's not an all-inclusive statement. There are some media guys I respect and value their opinions. (Here we are back on opinions again...)

I honestly don't care what some of the media may say. If one were to ask if I thought Danny Kannell may make a snide remark about the SEC's overall strength I'd say chances are not only high, they are worth betting upon. Hell, he'd look a gift horse in the mouth and call it a dog and a thief.

Who cares what they have to say? It appears you do. Personally, I don't. Especially when the facts of the story far outweigh what some may propose.

As to who wins the game? I could care less, but not by a great degree.

Here's my suspicion under the assumption Auburn wins this game.

In a matter of a few years we'll be in conversations about the BCS era. Bama fans will talk about a few things and among them will be:

  • Alabama went three for three in the BCSNC.
  • Bama and LSU had the most appearances of any school in the conference.
  • The SEC only lost one game in the BCSNC—a loss to another SEC team.
  • The BCS era was book-ended with an SEC team winning the first game and winning the last game.
  • The national championship trophy stayed within the state borders for five consecutive years.

Pretty funny sign.
