šŸˆ Can someone convince me why I should pull for Aubrun on Monday night?

I have been told that I "should pull for Auburn" on Monday because it would be good for the SEC, the state, etc. I'm sorry but 7 in a row BCS Championships by the SEC is really a cool stat and everything but I really only enjoyed 3 of those games. To me, Slippery Rock could have won the other four and I wouldn't had cared less.

We have still maintained one of the best coaches in the game and he has subsequently reeled of how many top 5 classes in a row? So, how by Aubrun winning does THAT help Alabama?

Having a really hard time justifying the benefit of Aubrun winning so help me here. How would Aubrun winning benefit Alabama, the only team I care about?

I'm hoping FSU takes them to the woodshed and paints the blueprint for everyone to beat the Gus Bus. Also would be happy to see Auburn screw the streak up.

If Allbarn loses it will show that we were not very good this year. If Allbarn wins it will show that the SEC really is still the best conference in the land. FSU has a great record and has momentum, however Allbarn started weak and improved with the same type of system that beat us last night. Take off your crimson goggles for a second and if you are from the state of Alabama think that an Allbarn win in the NCG will set another record for our state.

I never pull for Allbarn until moments like this when they have won the Iron Bowl. We need to be humble. I have missed seeing them and arguing with them because they have been in the woodworks like termites for the last few years. Now they are swarming so I get to have a few laughs with the jabs Like our Seniors have more NC than they do. I used it last week when a Nephew asked me if I had a second.

I do believe we should always have class win or lose. I live in the state of Alabama and it warms my heart that when an Allbarn fan pays the $50.00 per year for his personal AU license plate for his 1983 BMW it still has the word Alabama on it.

As difficult as it is to say, I am gonna be pulling for the other school in the state of Alabama on Monday night. My reasons have already been mentioned; it's a team in the same state, they are from the SEC, it would give us 8 straight NC in a row, and it shows the SEC is still the best conference. I am not saying by an stretch of the imagination my reasons are good ones. I have always pulled for the SEC come bowl time. We need to be humble when we win and humble when we lose.

I don't care about the conference or anything, I won't be rooting for Auburn on Monday or any other day. I don't have the same disdain for them that some Bama fans have, but that doesn't mean I will ever root for them in any game and I really won't be rooting for them to win the NC

Go Noles!!!

Fair enough. Crimson goggles off. Where it's true Aubrun beat us, they did so in anomalous fashion to the extent people were saying we were still the best team in the country. It was Oklahoma that exposed the Crimson Tide last night. That was not done at Jordan Hare. The record for the state has already been set and I see no benefit to Alabama (THE University) for that to be extended.

Not prototypical of any AU fans I know. They just won the BCS three years ago and they have never gone too far into the proverbial woodwork.

I congratulate them and move on. Isn't that classy enough? Sure, they need to win ever so often to make the rivalry interesting but I don't have to like it and I really don't.

Good compelling argument my friend but I'm going to have to put those crimson goggles back on. :)

There's that word again, "humble". I believe in that concept as a whole but to what extent do you need to humble yourself? I called my Barner company President in Holland and congratulated him and said congrats to my Barner friends on FB. Do I have to actually root for them to win to be humble?

My googles never come off. I just shift them to my forehead. We will survive more than allbarn will. They will have their $hitty years and we will have our 12-2 years. 12-2 is not a bad way to end our season.

i won't be watching the game.

but i do hope fsu embarrasses them to the point where all the auburn fans go back into hiding.

i hate auburn.....Hate.....HATE.....HATE!!!

i want them to lose so bad people start questioning why they were even in the game to begin with.
yes that might make us not look as good, but if that means i don't have to listen to their idiotic ramblings about how awesome they are then i'll take that. it's totally worth it.

auburn fans are so arrogant and have this elitist attitude about them that it borders on insanity. and they have no reason to be that way.

so eff auburn. i hope they lose and that gus malzahn takes the texas job just to piss them off even more.

I tell anybody that says that "pull for the SEC" crap to kiss my ass. What does Auburn winning do to help Alabama in any way, shape, form, for fashion especially considering Bama and Auburn typically go after the same recruits in-state. FSU does too but Auburn is even worse, I won't be rooting for either one of them. But I might smile everytime FSU scores :)

The SEC has won 7 BCS. 1998 Tenn, 2004 LSU, 2007 Fla, 2008 LSU, 2009 Fla, 2010 Bama, 2012 Burn, 2011 Bama, 2013 Bama, 2014 ???? The bold is the only team from the SEC I have pull for. No, I'm not going to watch the game. No, I will not pull for F$U either.

Maybe it's cuz I'm not actually from SEC country, but I can't understand rooting for a team based solely on them being in your conference DESPITE being a bitter rival. I understand rooting for the SEC (because I do), just not for rivals within it. For example, as an Eagles fan, I despise everyone else in my division: the Giants, Redskins, and Cowboys and root for anybody who plays them. If one of them was in a Super Bowl, I would 100% root for the other team. But I do root for the NFC, and I would root for a non-rival NFC team if they were in a Super Bowl such as the Packers, Seahawks, etc.

Based on what I've seen a few times in this thread, the strength of the SEC is going to be determined on whether Auburn wins? An Auburn loss means the SEC isn't the best conference?

Would someone take a minute and explain how exactly that works! Please!!!

Next question:

An Auburn loss means we didn't have a good team this season. OK, let me repeat that. An Auburn loss means we didn't have a good team this season?!?!

Would someone take, if only a second, and explain how that works as well?

I will try to explain my post, however opinions are like A$$holes, everybody has their own. When I am talking to friends in low places, they are saying well, you got beat by Allbarn & Okie so really you guys were overrated. Go back to the strength of schedule and the pundits will say that we didn't play anyone of strength but ATM, LSU, Allbarn, & Okie. Watch the national media after this season and you will see them try to elevate other conferences with excuses like this. We are not in any trouble as long as we continue to take care of business on the field.

Sorry my Crimson Goggles had to be off for this evaluation. I am watching an ESPN countdown to the NC game right now and except for Paul Finebaum, the talk is about how Allbarn is going to get beat by a better team. The perception is an ACC team should be rated better than an SEC team. Sorry I don't believe it.
