šŸˆ Browns apparently pushing for Saban

I don't think he would leave either, or at least not the Cleveland despite connections of the past. He has it made here and I just don't see him being content with coaching a bunch of pro prima doona's . He seems to enjoy coaching young men up.

I have to question the timing of this....

Ha, I messages Brandon about this earlier when I heard it. I didn't want to be the first to post it.

Cowherd spoke about this today and made some pretty good points. I don't think he'll go though I certainly don't fall into the "never leaving" camp, simply because of his drive for success. He may get bored. Ultimately, I think he'll listen and then likely shoot them down.

While I'm not sure, I have a feeling that Indy and Dallas went after Saban last year. I think he probably looked at it hard, and made his decision on whether or not he would ever leave Bama for another job. I think it's unlikely the Browns lure him away. Not impossible, but unlikely.

If he left it damn sure wouldn't be for Dallas. The ego between he and Jones probably wouldn't survive a handshake without exploding. He wouldn't work for someone like Jerry.

"I understand the emotional part of it," Saban said. "But I had the feeling that I wanted to come back to college football.".

The one thing I know about Saban is that he seldom makes the same mistake twice...

I don't think the mistake was taking the job, I think the mistake was the QB choice, forced upon him or otherwise. His defense would work in the NFL. It is an NFL scheme. You put Ronnie Brown (as a rookie) and Drew Brees on a team and the offense will hum. If he were winning in the NFL and had a chance at a title, no way he would've left.

Again, I don't think he'll take it at all. I just disagree with the notion that it was a mistake to try it. The right personnel move and it is a totally different story.

This is nothing more than message board fodder, however. A Super Bowl could possibly drag him away; he can't get that in Cleveland.

I really thought long and hard on this before I posted. While past actions cannot be ignored, I think I remember CNS saying that he would be here until he retired. Past actions being: 1. I will not leave Mich. St. 2. I will not leave LSU 3. I am not going to Alabama. Now, it can also be said that each team is a separate entity every year and there are challenges every year so I don't see where he would get bored. He could go or more likely he will stay, only he and Miss Terry know at this time. I don't remember him putting his heart and soul into any program he coached more than ours and I don't think he will leave. Life after Saban will happen sooner or later and we will all have to live with it.

Didn't Dallas go after him last year? I'll say that's a pretty good job to get (regardless of the dumb A.D interfering..), if he turned that down, its pretty hard to say that he would leave for a place in Cleveland that is in full rebuild mode and really doesn't have the fan support that a place like Alabama has.

Cleveland fans do love their football. Regarding who tried to hire Saban last year, I'm not so sure he didn't get a pro and a college offer last year, both from the State of Texas.

We all know what power some boosters believe they wield. I've heard some of the wealthier people in TX have sent feelers towards Saban. But, as far as official inquiries? On what I consider good authority I don't have a reason to believe the Longhorn program made a run, or even a stab in the dark, at Saban last year.

He mentioned contact, but didn't say where it came from. People speculated TX and it seems the more that speculated the more who took it as fact and repeated those speculations.

With DeLoss Dodds and Bill Powers relationship with Brown, I don't see him being pushed out. (Of course, I thought the same thing about RC Slocum which makes me pose this question. Do you think UT learned anything from that fiasco?) William Powell is a big Brown guy as well. Between those three, that's quite a few hold cards Brown has up his sleeve.

Here's a question that bears consideration—perhaps two.

What do you think motivates Saban?

And secondly, what makes anyone think that the control aspect isn't in play here? Specifically, the lack of control he'd have in the NFL?
