Turnage transfers to Georgia. Relatively shocked he went there after seeing us beat them and how they just can't keep it together, AND after the West Virginia cornerback comes in along with Ringo coming back and a couple of five star defensive backs just enrolled.

They had not a single CB returning with starting college experience. Turnage obviously thinks he has a better chance there. And he may be right.

Maybe it's the competition or something else, but I have to wonder with a grin if Kirby found out that Saban was asking Turnage to change positions (WR) and realized he wasn't stealing anything after all so he ghosted him.

It's not a good look for any program but it's not as bad as it's made out the be.

UT lost 10 players to P5 schools, they pulled in nine P5 players from the portal. Seven of the players in the portal were walk-ons at UT.
The rest moved to FCS.

You can have have a good team with 50-55 solid players (but some have to be really good). Hugh did it at Ole Miss. At least 20% of the players you sign each year never play a meaningful down.

You better have a good coach to go with those 50.

It's their impact players they'll miss the most. They did get some decent players through the portal but based on how they were ranked coming out of high school the ratio of "impact" vs "decent" has dropped. (According to one who ran the numbers their blue chip ratio has dropped to the UofSC level.)
