Before the judge

A man had been caught shooting an endangered species, the rare California Condor. The charges against him were read, and the judge asked him if he had anything to say for himself.

"Your honor" the man said, "I don't deny that I did this, but there were extenuating circomstances."

"Go on" said the judge.

"My son and I had been out camping and we got lost. We ate all our food the day before, and he was getting hungry. I did what a lot of dads would have done and shot the first thing I saw. We were eating what I had cooked over our camp fire when the game warden showed up."

The judge was moved by the story and said "that's a very touching story. I might have done the same thing myself. I'm going to dismiss the case this time."

As the man was thanking him the judge asked "just out of curiosity, what does a California Condor taste like."

"Your honor, it tastes a lot like a bald eagle."
