🏀 🏀 2026-27 Bama Roster News and Portal Updates: TBB is entering the portal.

As in previous years, this thread will be updated as roster news happens. The transfer portal for college basketball opens on April 7th and closes on April 21st. But many players will announce their intentions to transfer beforehand. We will keep the thread updated with all the news, possible roster additions and subtractions. Even though some moves like Philon to the NBA are stone cold locks, I won't update each player and the roster until news becomes official.

Sherell is a little bit of a surprise on one hand, but then again, it isn't in the sense that this day in age, this is how it all works... literally nobody should be a very big surprise. This is the new game, the game allowed to be played by having no rules. Players and their reps/agents use the portal and ability to transfer to drive up their price each season. Multi year deals protect against this in some ways, but many agents won't even negotiate such. And fact remains, even with Oats and this stuff getting a pretty significant bump in roster pool $, they are not going to egregiously overpay for a single player. Same for the football side of things with DeBoer and Morrgan. If a specific donor wants to step to the plate and provide the extra money, then UA might play ball, but most of UA's mega boosters and donors didn't get to where they are at financially by being extorted.

Maybe they get Sherrell back, maybe not. But if not, it will clear up a good chunk of change for a replacement. Oats and his staff will just have to make sure they nail the evaluation(s). They'll have the funds to put a top team together, as long as they players perform at or above the ability that the staff expects.

Really good athletic smaller players are plentiful. Really good athletic Big players are Not. The better Bigs can command a nice chunk of money.

How about Collins ( last name? ), the big guy with the medical condition. Will he be cleared to play again? Will he stay or go? Anyone heard?

Last I heard he still wasn't cleared by UA. Maybe that's changed, I don't know.
