🏀 GAME THREAD 🏀 #17 Alabama vs. Mississippi State - Alabama Wins Seventh Straight, Defeats Mississippi State 100-75

I was looking at other purported SEC games this week, and noted this article - "Wague made 10 of 12 foul shots, Derrion Reid scored 16 points and Xzayvier Brown 14 for Oklahoma (14-14, 4-11 Big 12) to end its two-game losing streak."

The whole world has turned into inaccurate mush.

Oats took a timeout in the second half and was really pissed. He got after them a good bit. Then we dominated the next four minutes. Learning moment hopefully.

Fun game to sit back and relax too. I really hope we can get Amari Allen back. It's a huge if on him coming back because of how fast he's gotten onto the NBA radar. But with how loaded this class is going to be, he can come back next year and potentially be a lottery pick. He seems to flourish really well with Holloway, who will likely come back next season too.

  • The Tide's 16 threes in the first half are the most made in a half under Nate Oats, and 22 threes for the game are tied for the most in a game this season (Yale on Dec. 29)
  • Alabama's 23 assists are the most dimes UA has dished in conference play this season
  • UA outrebounded the Bulldogs 48-36, including 15-12 on the offensive glass. Its 48 rebounds are the most in a game since grabbing 49 boards against Vanderbilt on Jan. 7

I was young but still remember some of Gottfried-Stansbury rivalry. I used to HATTTEE them. Still not over the one game Grant blew in his third season, where he told Trevor Lacey to make a layup when we were down 3 with no time left. Then of course in Avery's first year, they (and UGA) killed our chances of an NCAAT birth by beating us at times. I was a student and it sucked.

Needless to say, the last three results against State in Tuscaloosa:

'23: 99-67
'24: 111-73
'25: 100-75

Beautiful.

Mark hated him. I use that word, literally. He may not admit it; I saw. Stansbury was a cheatin' son of a bitch but he was a solid basketball coach.

It's such a weird series. The losses State has taken in Tuscaloosa? It was close to 40 in one game. They were down by 30 at the half in this one. It was 60+ in the second half last year. It's crazy knowing that's not the most points scored in a half this season.
Fun game.
We got the same last year with BYU. Maybe we'll see another one next season. Or, better yet, again this season.
