3 things have to happen for Bama to win this series.

1- Bama must play clean defense and not give away outs/runs. auburn has one of the best pitching staff in the SEC/nation, so runs will be at a premium if they show up.

2- As good as auburn's pitching is, their offense can struggle at times. They are still good, and can put up runs quickly, but good pitching can limit them. UA's staff needs to be sharp. Fay and Adams must carry over their performances from last week and give Bama a shot. Upchurch will be well rested after last Sunday's early exit. Hopefully, that was more of a blip on his radar than it was indication of some control issues cropping up. IMO, he will look much better this week. But the starters and pen need to get outs and really limit runs and big innings.

3- Bama's offense must find a way. We've seen them play small ball and we've seen them play the grip it and rip it game (on the few occasions where they get hot at the plate). Vaughn is gonna have to really have his pulse on the offense to see what's working, what isn't. If auburn's staff performs like they have been, every AB is going to matter. Every run is going to be massive.

If I had to guess, I'd say Bana wins 1 of 3, but if they play like they did last week, a series win is certainly possible. If they bring their B game or C game, auburn will probably sweep it.

Ok, now that I have a minute...

What a win. They basically turned the tables on auburn tonight. It was Fay and the Bama pen throwing a gem (Fay only gme up 1 hit in 5 innings.... not a bad follow up to his no-hitter last weekend against Florida). Heiberger and Mitchell closed out the final 3 innings... in all, auburn managed just 3 hits.

Meanwhile, Bama passed the bat at the plate. They were aggressive early, and honestly, I wondered if that was going to hurt them. But they chipped away at auburn's starter, Marciano (a really good pitcher). Then busted it open when after they ran him in the the 6th. They also took advantage of 2 auburn errors and another misplayed pop fly, making the Tigers pay. Meanwhile, Bama played a clean defensive game... I think just their 2nd such clean game in about a month.

Every Bama starter had a hit other than Plattner, most had multiple. Vaughn, Fowler, and Lemm all went deep. Even Torres had two clutch opposite field base hits to score runs. It was a team effort and they definitely brought their A game. When they do that, they can play with, and beat, anyone. They just haven't done it much until here recently. Hopefully, this is a sign that they are hitting their stride. A series win this weekend would be huge and really reset the season. I hope they keep their foot on the gas and get it done.

Roll Tide!

Lemm drove in the winning run! Aussie at that I kept seeing their flag. Wind was kicking tonight too!

Very windy here tonight. I know tomorrow was supposed to be windy, but didn't realize tonight was too. Everytime I step outside, it feels like a storm is about to blow through.

And yes, the catcher, Lemm is an Aussie. A weird note, 4 players in the UA lineup tonight have played, can play, and started out as a catcher. Lemm, Neal, Plattner, and Vaughn). At one point last season, Bama was down to 1 healthy catcher in Neal... now they have 4 in their lineup at times.

I wasn't making fun of him. Also the guy Torres (sp) did some good batting in runs. I had a chance to move to Australia but didn't. That was in 1973 right after getting married.
