So Releford nails two threes and is Bama's leading scorer. Okay, great. At the beginning of the game, he was held scoreless and Obasohan was leading the way. I just saw his brick. He needs to heat back up as well. If Grant can get both those two going, I'm liking our chances.
God oh mighty Cooper COME ON!!! Make the damn free throw dude. Then if you don't, DON'T FOUL!! JESUS......God oh mighty, can this team finish a damn game for once?
The women's team has made more progress than the mens have made. Sure they play good defense at times but the offense is about as bad as Florida's in football. Same thing....different year. And the crowd just irritates the hell out of me.
Can't finish at the basket, costly turnovers, too many droughts, new rules completely screw our defense over, can't make open shots, we do the same "pick and role" play, can't get turnovers.......

We actually ended up with more points off of turnovers than WSU had last night.
Where I look at this loss falls into two categories; one is just, well, odd.
How often do you see a team making right at 75% of their attempts from the line and lose? Maybe 5% of the time; maybe? Now, the ole "elephant in the room" is the fact they shot right at 93%.
Points in the paint does need mentioning but there's only around a 10 point difference between the two teams. Not that big of a deal if taken by itself.
Offensive rebounds leading to a second chance shot? There's around another 10 point differential. Fast break points? There's another 10 points.
Add all of that together and then see a final score where we lost by five? You won't think it based on the stats from the game. I don't want to say Retin had a bad game, but two for 10 from the field, one for five from outside the arc? That hurt.
Like PJ points to...need to start winning games like this.
So far, reading the stat sheet, Alabama did pretty much everything they needed to to win, except rebound. Alabama got out rebounded 38-26. Held them to 3-12 from the perimeter, while we went 7-20. Shot 43% from the field. Wichita State had 27 FT attempts, made 25 of them. That's insane.
Either way, we got Xavier and UCLA next. The commentator pointed out that we had a great RPI, but that is meaningless if you have no wins. Just ask Kentucky last year. We absolutely need these wins or we're settling for mediocrity yet again.
One thing it took us until the second half to adjust to: when we ran our ball screens they trapped the dribbler and forced him away from the the basket. In the second half the ball handler was splitting the and driving to the hole.
Two things they did well were blocking out on defense and/ getting back in transition.
PJ, you think even better than Oklahoma? I really like OK's game. Maybe so though. Xavier and UCLA. Must win to get in the tournament. It's that simple. I can't see any way Bama wins the SEC Tournament. So...
I'm so conflicted with this team. I'm frustrated and I want to be angry at Grant. But I'm sure he's upset about his team's performance, more so than any of us. I really want him to succeed. I guess we will see what happens.

I've not seen what I would call lack of effort, but I have seen what I would call lack of mental fortitude. That's not something you learn in practice or in the off-season. It comes from winning games like this one.
I certainly hate the losses we're taking. I have enjoyed watching this team; at times. I am tiring of thinking to myself, "we can't keep doing that."

Bingo. I don't think these guys, or Grant's guys since he's been here really, expect to or believe they can win. And I'm to the point where I'm tired of watching it.
