🏈 Auburn Without Two Quarterbacks Due to Finley, Calzada Injuries

Using the ESPN matchup predictor, aubrun won't be favored again until Western Kentucky. Interestingly, they show the Arky game as a push right now (50.9% chance of auburn win). I think that tilts toward Arky as the season progresses. 4-8 is looking pretty likely, 5-7 would be a surprise and 3-9 is not out of the discussion. The GA game will be brutal. If Ashford gets hurt...

I feel sorry for Bigsby.

I picked them 4-8 in my SEC West Predictions. Note to self: Never pick Mississippi State high again.

1. Alabama 12-0 (8-0)
2. Arkansas 9-3 (6-2)
3. Mississippi 9-3 (5-3) [1-1]
3. Mississippi State 9-3 (5-3) [1-1]
3. Texas A&M 7-5 (5-3) [1-1]
6. LSU 6-6 (2-6)
7. Auburn 4-8 (1-7)

I got a kick out of this line regarding the Mizzou game:

The Tigers could end this by grabbing their scythe. Butch Jones (2017), Bret Bielema (2017), Derek Mason (2020) and Dan Mullen (2021) all were fired directly after losing to Missouri, the SEC’s grim reaper.

"Buyout Bliss Awaits Harsin" - down halfway through the column.

Sawyer Pate, a preferred walk on, really needs a good look from Harsin. He's better than both Finley and Calzada.
Some of them wouldn't play Baker Mayfield if they had him. My Grandson was a RB walk on at Samford in 2019. Ran all over their defense in practices. Never played a down. Gave him "Scout Team Player of the Year" award at their annual awards banquet.

I don't get it. Your grandson looks like he earned some game time. Pate is a preferred walk on, which means, I thought, that with enough hard work in practice, he could play garbage time in a game v. a high school team or when the injuries pile up, he'd be the next man up. Just makes you wonder what the point of taking a preferred walk on offer is.

One would certainly think that would be the case. I would like to see Pate get a chance, so hopefully Harsin is not one of those who would not even play Mayfield. The Samford coach sure is one of them. The grandson had played at the DIII level in 2017, and sat out 2018 due to a hamstring pull at the Samford walk on tryout. I saw most of the 2019 Samford games and a lot of their practices, and in my biased opinion he was the best RB Samford had. He certainly should have been their 3rd and short back. Never was tackled for a loss in their practices.
