Here's some pretty good stuff from Marshall.
--Former Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason has interest in the Auburn defensive coordinatorās job. That one could make some sense. He is a highly regarded defensive coach, who ran Stanfordās defense before moving to Vanderbilt. Is he really interested? Is Harsin?
--Auburn is trying to hire Georgia running backs coach Dell McGee, a former Auburn defensive back and analyst. It would make sense for Harsin to try to hire him. His level of interest is anybodyās guess.
--McGee is going to be offensive coordinator. Co-coordinator, which is really just to pay a coach more money, I could believe. Full-blown coordinator? The only way I could see that happening is if Harsin plans to call the plays, something he has done in the past.
--Harsin and those already on board are rebuilding Auburnās recruiting operation from the ground up. This one I believe to be true, and it would seem to be an indication that Harsin has a plan for dealing with the immense challenge of living between Georgia and Alabama and in the same recruiting footprint as Clemson, Florida, etc. For Auburn to win championships, that has to happen.
--Harsin is trying to get his coordinators in place before filling in the rest of his staff. I canāt confirm that and, honestly, havenāt even heard that from anyone who would have first-hand knowledge. It does, however, make sense.
--Iāve heard talk that Jeremy Pruittās seat at Tennessee could still be hot and, if a change is made, that former Auburn coach Gus Malzahn would be high on the list of potential replacements. My guess is that Pruitt will probably survive, but that would be really wild, wouldnāt it?
--Auburn running back Tank Bigsby is flirting with Georgia. In a recent Instagram post, for whatever that is worth, he seemed to indicate he plans to stay at Auburn. Making that happen is, clearly, something Harsin should prioritize and probably is prioritizing. Bigsby is the definition of a difference-maker.
