For any of you that follow baseball and softball, and know how to keep a box score as well, when (or better yet HAVE YOU) is the last time you've seen a 7-3 double play?

I had the game on last night in PIP when I caught a glance of the throw. After swapping pics, all I could say was, "DAMN!"

Incredible catch, incredible throw!

I was equally impressed with a bunt Fenton laid down last night. It was a pitch in the low sixties, inside, and she laid down a bunt about 2 yards from the plate that had as much back-spin as a shot from one of my wedges. "Stuck it" would have been the description used if that ball had dimples. Literally, hit and just dropped dead.

TV coverage for our game against UGA is on the U at 4:30 CST.

The video on TideTV doesn't do the play justice.

On the ESPN highlights/Top 10 you can see Kayla eyes immediately start surveying the field as soon as she has the ball in the netting. Hell, she hadn't finished hitting the ground and she was already looking at the base runner between first and second. She definitely had her mind in the game.

As a stark contrast...

I want to say it was in the bottom of the 5th, we had runners on first and second, and had a very poorly hit ball back to the pitcher. If the ball made it back to the rubber, I'd be shocked. Their pitcher did a good job fielding the ball and immediately going to third base to get the lead runner. It was perfect execution.

WELL, except for the point of their third baseman being a good yard from the bag and they ended up loading the bases. That basic fundamentals. Know your lead runner, know your out count...

Just a thought...

A shot of Kayla laid out for that catch would look GREAT on the outfield wall.

WOW! What a catch!

Oh, that's true.

The throw beats the catch hands down. With the speed, combined with shorter base paths, a double play in softball isn't something you see often. Hell, you might go through a weekend series without seeing a single one.

Just an incredible play!
