Was a little surprised to see a dozen players from Alabama on the roster for WKU, and many of them are significant contributors.

- Senior LB T.J. McCollum led the team with 106 tackles last year. He transferred from UAB after the program shut down and went to Clay-Chalkville.
- Junior WR Kylen Towner is not a big part of the passing game but is their kick returner and has a couple TDs on special teams. He's from St. Paul Episcopal in Mobile.
- Senior LB Drew Davis from Bob Jones HS didn't start against Rice but did have 3 tackles. He would have been one year behind Reggie Ragland there. Sophomore DT Julien Lewis, also from Bob Jones, played but didn't record a stat.
- Junior OL Brandon Ray, another Bob Jones product, is in his third year as a starter at guard. (The OL Brandon Ray is 2017 DL recruit LaBryan Ray's brother.)
- Senior Marcus Ward is in his third year as a starter at safety. Senior DL Kalvin Robinson, also from Vestavia Hills played in the opener but didn't have a stat. He's a rotation player.
- Muscle Shoals alum Martavius Mims played at DB last week and had about 10 tackles last year.
- Freshman DL Jalen Madden is from Northridge HS, just across the river in Tuscaloosa. He didn't play last week.
- Freshman OL Adam Raschilla went to Tuscaloosa County HS. His dad is Alabama gymnastics assistant Bryan Raschilla.
- True freshman WR Xavier Lane (6-4/200) played with Mack Wilson at Carver last year in Montgomery but didn't play in the opener.
