• Alabama senior receiver Christion Jones was named Monday to the watch list for the annual Paul Hornung Award for the most versitile player on the nation.
• Alabama safety Landon Collins, linebacker Trey DePriest and defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson were named to the watch list for the Chuck Bednarik Award on Monday.
• Jacob Coker, TJ Yeldon, Derrick Henry, and Amari Cooper were named part of the watch list for the annual Maxwell Award.
• Alabama center Ryan Kelly on the updated watch list for the Rimington Trophy, which goes annually to the nation's top center.
• Alabama sophomore O.J. Howard was named to the watch list for the John Mackey Award, which goes to the nation’s top tight end.
• Alabama safety Landon Collins, linebacker Trey DePriest and defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson were named to the watch list for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy on Thursday.
• Landon Collins is one of 39 players to make the Jim Thorpe Award watch list
• Outland Trophy—Junior center Ryan Kelly and senior guard Arie Kouandjio were nominated on the offensive side with sophomore defensive lineman A'Shawn Robinson a defensive candidate.
• Lombardi Award- Senior offensive guard Arie Kouandjio and sophomore defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson are the Crimson Tide representatives on the 123-man list.
• Alabama football players Trey DePriest and Reggie Ragland were named to the watch list for the Butkus Award, which goes to the nation’s top linebacker.

Alabama senior receiver Christion Jones was named Monday to the watch list for the annual Paul Hornung Award for the most versitile player on the nation.

Jones is coming of productive season as a receiver, punt returner and kickoff returner.

He caugh 36 passes for 349 yards and two touchdowns. He retuned 23 punts for a 14-yard average and two touchdowns and returned 22 kickoffs for a 28.7-yard average and a touchdown.

Add ESPN college Football analyst David Pollack [BCOLOR=rgb(255, 255, 0)]to the growing list of people[/BCOLOR] who think that Jacob Coker is ready to start for Alabama on Day One.



Pollack said further that watching Coker during his time in Tallahassee is what convinced him the former Florida State QB is ready to go.

Some Seminole fans have responded that if he were that good, Nick Saban wouldn’t have missed on him the first time around. Regardless, he’s wearing Alabama’s jersey now, and is vying for the job with Blake Sims.

Rational Crimson Tide fans aren’t quite ready to award the starting job, a Heisman trophy and a national championship to Coker – not yet anyway. But the obvious talent is there, and if he’s able to pick up Lane Kiffin’s offense and execute it in practice, there’s no reason to think he won’t have a more than solid shot at the job.

I heard Pollack on a radio interview saying the same thing. He's certainly convinced that Coker is the best Saban has had under center at Alabama. We shall see.

Alabama sophomore O.J. Howard was named to the watch list for the John Mackey Award, which goes to the nation’s top tight end, on Tuesday.

Howard made an impact as a part-time player during his first season with the Crimson Tide. He caught 20 passes for 183 yards and two touchdowns.

He’s expected to play a bigger role this season after a year of learning how to block. Howard is in competition for playing time with returning senior starter Brian Vogler.

Alabama safety Landon Collins, linebacker Trey DePriest and defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson were named to the watch list for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy on Thursday.

The award, presented by the Football Writers Association of America, goes to the best defensive player in the nation after each season.

All three were also named Monday to the watch list for Chuck Bednarik Award, which also goes tot he nation’s top defender.

DePriest, a senior, made 65 tackles, had two sacks, forced two fumbles and intercepted a pass last season.

Collins, a junior, was second on the team last season with 70 tackles. He also had two interceptions, six pass breakups and two forced fumbles.

Robinson, a sophomore, led the team in quarterback sacks with 5.5. He also had 38 tackles, five quarterback hurries and blocked a kick.

The postseason award from the Football Writers Association of American goes to the best interior lineman on either side of the ball.

Junior center Ryan Kelly and senior guard Arie Kouandjio were nominated on the offensive side with sophomore defensive lineman A'Shawn Robinson a defensive candidate.

The latest focuses more on his particular position, as Collins was one of 39 players to make the Jim Thorpe Award watch list. The award goes annually to the nation's best defensive back.

Michigan State's Darqueze Dennard won the award last year. Alabama cornerback Dee Milliner was a finalist in 2012 and Antonio Langham won it in 1993.

Two Alabama football players were named to the watch list for the Lombardi Award on Monday.

The annual postseason award goes to the top college football down lineman on either side of the ball or linebacker who sets up no farther than five yards back of the line of scrimmage.

Senior offensive guard Arie Kouandjio and sophomore defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson are the Crimson Tide representatives on the 123-man list.

Kouandjio goes into his second season as a starter, while Robinson was a part-time player last season but led Alabama in quarterback sacks with 5.5. He also had 38 tackles, five quarterback hurries and a blocked kick.

Alabama football players Trey DePriest and Reggie Ragland were named to the watch list for the Butkus Award, which goes to the nation’s top linebacker.

Former Crimson Tide linebacker C.J. Mosley won the award last year. He became a first-round draft pick for the Baltimore Ravens.

DePriest, a senior from Springfield, Ohio, made 65 tackles, had two quarterback sacks, forced two fumbles and intercepted a pass last season. He’s also on the watch lists for the Nagurski Trophy and Bednarik Award, both for the defensive player of the year.

This is Ragland’s first watch list. The junior from Madison has been a backup who made 11 tackles last season, but moved onto the first spring during spring practice.

Alabama football players T.J. Yeldon and Derrick Henry were named to the watch list for the Doak Walker Award today.

The annual postseason award goes to the nation's top running back in college football.

Yeldon, a junior from Daphne, was a second-team all-SEC player last year. He goes into his second season as the starter for the Crimson Tide.

He carried the ball 207 times for 1,235 yards and 14 yards a year ago. He gained 1,108 yards and 12 TDs his first year, when he was named a freshman all-American.

Henry, a sophomore from Yulee, Fla., played sparingly last year in his first season but rushed for 382 yards on a 10.9-yard per carry average and scored three touchdowns.
