Alabama released this press statement tonight...

Statement from Director of Athletics Greg Byrne

"The NCAA informed us late this afternoon that Colin Sexton has not had his
eligibility reinstated by the NCAA.

"We don't have any further information at this time, but we will continue to
cooperate with the NCAA and work toward a resolution that results in Colin's timely
reinstatement.

"While we are disappointed, the right decision was to err on the side of caution for
tonight's exhibition game."

Got a feeling this kid will never touch the court for Bama.

Let's see how this shakes out the next week or so.

Honestly, I've been pessimistic about the basketball program for YEARS. It just feels like to me this just another thing. This kid was/is going to be a difference maker and if they find that his parents, him or anyone on his behalf took money its done. He'll sit out a year or play overseas and then be a first round draft pick next year.

It doesn't say he will remain ineligible. Just that he has not had his eligibility reinstated (yet). We know the NCAA works on their own time schedule and could care less about playing in games or before certain events.

Let's see how this shakes out the next week or so.
From what I understand they are thinking/hoping this is resolved by Friday of this week. To expect the NCAA to reinstate Sexton within just a few hours seems to be a bit of a pipe dream. Johnson said yesterday all of this came up "within the last eight hours, not 24 hours ago."

I don't see a reason to remain pessimistic on this @Birdman37

Which is practically impossible to do/know in a span of just over five or so hours.

It's also impossible to do without cooperation of the FBI and who's to say they're even ready to talk to someone like the NCAA about this stuff yet.

20+ years of disappointment wont allow me to not be lol

Bringing the FBI into Colin's situation is assuming a lot, in my eyes. As example, read this from SI:

Sexton’s lack of clearance is presumably tied the ever-growing FBI investigation into college hoops programs across the country. Kobie Baker, an Alabama basketball administrator, resigned in late September after admitting he was implicated in the probe.

Considering the school and the compliance staff have been through the FBI/Baker story already and Johnson came out and said he didn't believe there were any eligibility issues with the team I think it's premature to put both (Bama and the FBI) in the same sentence right now--if ever.

Johnson said he found out around 1:30 yesterday. The tip was at what, 7PM CT? IF we assume the NCAA ends its day at 5 I don't see how anyone could expect him to be reinstated as quickly as a few hours.

2004 wasn't to bad of a season.

Considering the FBI deal is the only thing we've even heard anything about, I wouldn't say its premature at all.

I dont really remember 04, I do remember the years with Gerald Wallace, Rod Grizzar, Dudley, Mo Williams, etc. were pretty good.
