"I think they have more talent this year than last year," he said. "But, to win it for a third year in a row...it's like seeing an alien. It's near impossible."
Copeland currently works as a defensive coach at Tuscaloosa Academy, and also does sports radio and television in the Tuscaloosa area. Living and working near the Capstone, he sees first-hand the expectations surrounding the team each year.
Copeland said that Alabama may have even more success when college football goes to a playoff system.
"I think we'll be in a better position when we have the playoff system," he said. "We can lose a game or two here or there and still be in the top four at the end of the season."
"Although we've done it before, it's hard to have an undefeated season and win the championship," he said. "It's also takes a lot of luck."
Copeland feels strongly that the future is bright for Alabama and the Southeastern Conference in the new system.
"I think the playoff system will actually help the SEC," he said.
