Jalen Hurts sprained ankle at Tennessee, had minor surgery

It turns out Alabama didn't leave Tennessee without an injury.

Nick Saban, speaking in Birmingham on Monday, revealed Jalen Hurts had "a bit of a high ankle sprain" in Knoxville.

"They did a minor procedure to try to help the healing," Saban said. ""I think he will be out for one week, probably this bye week and he will probably be ready to start working again next week."

The injury occurred on Hurts 21-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter. He stayed in the game before eventually being replaced by Mac Jones in the fourth quarter.

Saban said other players have had similar injuries and recovered "fairly quickly."

from what im hearing he may not be back for LSU.....:(

Iv just been reading other articles. Either way its not good. Tua's knee is tweeked and now Jalens ankle. Bad time for an injury. Cam Rob if i remember wasn't full speed.

Yes. Most ligaments will heal after six weeks. It is probably worth seeing your doctor to assess if any other injuries have occurred. Sometimes high ankle sprains can take that long or longer to heal, but it is wise to make sure that another injury has not occurred.

Most resources say 4-6 weeks depending on how bad. Also just from what I know about high ankle sprains.....some have said its easier to recover from a break than a high ankle sprain. The kid is a gamer and Alabama has the best rehab and medical staff money can buy....just very concerning going into our toughest stretch of the year especially with Tua dinged up.

Saban said he will probably be ready to START working in a week.
Saban: a minor procedure was done. Should be out a week.

How are these two different?
.

That means start putting weight on it...start to rehab it. It doesn't mean you are healed and ready to play in a week.
He's already in ice compression. It is the first point of rehab if we want to get technical.

“Jalen actually twisted his ankle when he scored a touchdown. He stayed in the game, nobody really knew anything about it,” Saban said before speaking to the Monday Morning Quarterback Club in Birmingham. “It was was a bit of a high-ankle sprain, and they did a minor procedure to try and help the healing.
“I think he’ll be out for one week, probably this week, this bye week and he’ll probably be able to be ready to start working again next week. It will be a medical decision as to how fast he can come back, but we’ve had other players have a similar situation and be able to recover fairly quickly.”
Be careful not to read too much into this. He was playing on it after his TD--it's not as serious as it is being made out be from what I've learned.

You are reading too much into this. HE will be back practicing with the team next week. Tua is fine as well.

I don't venture to other teams boards...

But do they really have a forum group named "Tiger Droppings".... ???

Really??? You name your board after Excrement from the rear end of a Tiger??? I mean, how much more Coonass can you be ???
Actually, I heard they took Jalen's knee and implanted into Tua's.... no shitting... straight from CrimsonBoz's mouth.... ;)
It's the TigerDroppings site where you can find Boz, FWIW.
