| FTBL You want the recipe for beating Clemson?

It's simple!!! Wear them out with a heavy dose of RED BALL, Bama's version of the no-huddle hurry-up offense that JPW runs extremely well.

It worked for Auburn! Check out the link!!!

NOTE: Most of the talk about Clemson is up to the 2 minute mark! After that, you may want to close the link!

i really think AU's "new" offense will fall flat on its face. it is very gimmicky. it will be heralded as a new invention for the first few games playing easier opponents, but look for some problems to arise when they get to the meat of their schedule and play some good defensive teams. they act like this is something that the world has never seen before and is impossible to defend, but running it at Troy is a different world than running it in the SEC.

I hope we look at the film of what Troy did to Oklahoma State last year with that offense. It can be stopped, but it is very different from what most SEC schools play, and needs to be taken seriously.

You also need to go back and see what kind of shape Troys QB was in at the end of the season..tough kid but he could barely walk. I also do not think that CNS is taking Aubrun lightly....but the Barners act like the offense is the second coming..speed kills that offense, period. Want an example see, UGA vs Hawaii. Georgia's speed and athletic ability ate them a new one. Again I do not think our coaches and players are taking anything lightly this season. I expect to see a "I am gonna show you", attitude.

Aubrun will take play action football talent and turn it into spread over one season...mmmmkay, yet we are gonna stink it up according to them. That is where most Bama fans start ignoring an Aubrun fans. I just laugh at them.

The barn's fanbase will be ok with this offense until they get a dose of reality, like Nebraska did with Callahan.

One of the problems with this kind of offense is that they practice against their own defense, and over time the defense become much less physical than it has been. That was one of the reasons Coach Bryant switched to the wishbone in 1971, so that his defenses would be more physical.

I hear you loud and clear that speed stops this kind of offense, and I trust the staff to have us well prepared by barn time. Surely after all the 6 in a row crap no one who wears crimson will take this one lightly.

The difference is UGA had way more speed than UH did. AU will match most anyone in the SEC for speed. Don't get me wrong, I'm not that concerned over their new offense. But, like joe said, it needs to be taken seriously.

And I said basically that I agreed. :)

It's interesting you mention Callahan and Nebraska Joe. I kind of see what you're saying there in terms of bringing in something foregn (i.e. I-bone/I-multiple attack as opposed to a West Coast attack). Nebraska fans are every bit as prideful and demanding as BAMA fans are based on their tradition and history. But the one thing with Nebraska is that it wasn't Callahan's offense so much that ws the problem. It was his defense, or lack thereof. Not to mention the attitude of the fanbase.

Callahan brought in a respectable offense. Not a gimmick. He had the misfortune of (1) having absolutely, positively no defense whatsoever to back it up. Either he couldn't recruit defense or his coaches couldn't coach it? Bottom line, with all of Nebraska's history of offensive prowess, they really pride themselves on their "black shirt" defenses. In fact, it might be because of those defenses that NU was so succesful offensively.

(2) Culture shock. I might be wrong here, but I honestly believe that was a lot of the problem there. Callahan tried to bring the offense into the 21st century but the fanbase/powers didn't seem to want any part of it.

The old adadge I guess; "three things can happen when you throw the ball, and two are bad".

BAMA fans are stubborn but NU fans take things to a whole nother level IMHO. Osborne isn't there (as a coach) anymore and times are changing. I'm not sure NU fans can adapt and cope with the changes.

i was impressed with Callahan's efforts with Neb.'s offense, but more than that i was confounded over Neb.'s loss of defense. i never understood how that happened.

I don't know amaze, I think we should just run better, tackle better, and play better and we will be the winners. Just my 2 cents.

that type of offense will give you a few blowouts in your favor, but it will also usually backfire at least twice during the season.

who they're playing when the backfires occur will be very important.

having an "off" day in a no huddle offense means you spend the whole day handing the ball over to another team that keeps your defense on the field for 6 or 7 minutes at a time. meanwhile, your offense sits on the bench and gets an adrenaline hangover.

i dont know if it will fall flat on its face. AU does actually have the right kind of talent to run it, Burns is the perfect type of QB for that offense and it will live and die by him. ive seen the Troy offense in person NUMEROUS times (free tickets, cousin works there) and that offense is something to see. but ur right, running it in the Sun Belt is one thing, the SEC is a completely different monster. i think it'll def work against the first few SEC D's they see. they just wont know exactly to expect. but as teams get the feel of it, they'll be more prepared for it. i think it will def. work for them if Burns can execute. but hopefully ur right, i doubt it tho.

and beating Clemson? BLITZ, BLITZ, BLITZ! get in that QBs damn face. def. gotta test that suspect O-Line. their backfield scares the hell outta me tho.
