We got a football game to win, it's all about takin care of business and accomplishing the job at hand it's not about being rude.

It's all about the focus. If you are going to the WoC and excpecting the team to sign autograps, look at you or anything short of determination and focus, then you'll be disappointed. Your 1st time going I'm guessing?

Personally I don't expect them to look at me or anyone in perticular. CNS probably gives them a reminder just before getting off the bus to not get caught up in what fans (opposing team or our own) say just before they head into BDS. Last thing I'd want as a player is some fan telling me something crazy or distracting while I'm trying to get into my game-mode. That's why they wear the earphones and probably have their favorite song cranked up on level 10.

If you watch the "Tiger Walk" at the Barn, you'll see a few guys jumping around and "carrying on" and it's almost like a party scene.

Whatever floats your boat, but I'd rather have focus and concentration.

Plenty of time for dancing when the game is over!

just the first time i saw a kid next to me crying because she tried to give a player a high five and the player just looked at her. hey i agree they should be focused. i fully believe you can be focused and still waive or high five or whatever. kids dont understand that. just an opinion. besides as bad as mike shula was...well i wont go there.

I understand when it comes to children. They don't understand; and I'm sorry the kid cried.

However, it's gameday...not fanday.

Maybe he just didn't see the kid? I don't know. I know when they showed them doing the WoC last night they showed some little kid run up to JPW to give him a high five and he turned back and gave one to him. I think it was the UK game this year that I got to shake Mt. Cody's hand and he went down the crowd with his hand out. It happens, but the WoC is more for the fans to see their players rather than interact with them. I can see how kids would feel disappointed. They just don't understand. They will when they grow up. :D

EDIT - Bryan summed it up before I posted ;)

I never liked it either, but I have a little better understanding of it after this year. I watched the Gator walk (or whatever?) before the Ole Miss game. Tim Tebow was high-fiving and whooping it up with the fans before the game and crying afterwards.

It looked really silly when they showed the clip of that and Florida ended up losing! I see similar clips of Auburn and Ole Miss players out there having a great time before the game.

Unfortunately for us fans there isn't a chance for the players to celebrate with us after the game. That is when I'd truly like a Walk of Champions. I know logistically that isn't feasible or possible, but you get my point.

I don't go to WofC. The kids saw it once or twice, and that's all we needed. I see both sides of the coin, but it's just not what I choose to do before game time. There will be no one yelling louder than me once the game starts though. :)

And who knows??? If we go undefeated and win it all we'll have a huge parade where everyone can be a part. If that's the case I would certainly think the players would be much more interactive. a$# a$#

finally someone show sees my side. hey guys i know these players, or any player for that matter, isnt there to "hand out lollipops. gimme a break. no one even alluded to anything of the sorts. why cant people post constructivly like this guy above me? i completely see both sides. however, i just think that the fans are the reason the game itself exists. i have been everywhere and seen all kinds of "walks". just because our guys are "quiet and focused" doesnt mean they are about to "hand out ass whipping" i.e.2007 season. and just because they jump up and down and act stupid doesnt mean that either i.e. any auburn tigerwalk. my point exactly, it should be more for the fans. no autographs or anything like that, just some acknowlegment. a waiver or smile or high five. i may be overthinking it. if it were my kid i would be a little disappointed.

The guy above you...is in fact a female. Crazy sports guys and the assumptions they make.

Just teasing ya. :)

I understand both sides of the equation and I can understand why a player would show love to the fans, and I understand why a player wouldn't.

A "right answer" or a proper etiquette doesn't exist.

Some of the players do interact with the fans during the walk into the stadium (guys like Cody and Huber), others don't. It is left up to them. The bottom line is, 95,000 people are not showing up in Tuscaloosa on Saturday's got get a smile and a fist bump from a 19 year old. They are showing up to watch these guys win football games, and that is what most of those players are focused on at that particular moment. If folks want to high-five them and get their autograph, they need to do it on Fan-Day (or at least after the game).
