šŸˆ Who do you think makes the Top 5 following this weekend?

I predict some movement in the top 5 and maybe in the top 10.
The AP top 25 twitter account is pushing that idea (as seen in the tweets below) but I'll be surprised if we see a change at the top. (I believe their tweets have to do with it being a relatively slow weekend and they're trying to garner attention to a poll which doesn't mean anything.)

I do think some voters will change their ballots but it's going to take quite a few changing their entire ballot to create a change. A lot of votes have been going Clemson's way over the last five weeks and those who I've seen suggesting their top five has changed don't have a vote.

I hate Auburn, but.... They've got more quality wins than us, Georgia, OSU, Clemson, OK. At least in my opinion. looking at Oregon, Miss State and A&M wins. I know the polls are based on more than just current wins, obviously. But it's week 5.5, so none of it matters much. The cream will rise to the top. One of the times it's good to be thick and more dense...

I agree with one caveat. Looking at TAMU who nearly lost to Arkansas (and should have lost) I am seeing a team that is nowhere near as good as predicted.

Oregon is the only good win they have.

Nobody will give Alabama any credit for a quality win after beating A&M in College Station next week far easier than Auburn did.

Mississippi St isn't a good team this year and has QB injuries/issues.

Oregon is the only win I'd call quality and that's a question left to be answered.

As an example, let's look at last season with LSU. They had a "quality win" for the first six weeks of the season by defeating Miami in week one. Then, we had a stretch where they dropped four in a row finishing with five losses on the season. I believe that was in week seven.

Was it a quality win in December? Nope, just a win against a named brand.

Back to Auburn and MIssissippi State. AU's first three touchdown drives started on MSU's side of the field. I think their longest drive was 47 yards. They had 28 on the board with less than 200 yards of offense. MSU, shooting themselves in the feet, gave Auburn a big head up in that game.

When people complain about preseason polls it's here and now they have a point. We're getting a feel for teams by week five but we're also getting the narrative about "quality wins" when there's still too much left in the season.

...polls are based on more than just current wins,

Brand name bias comes into play, a lot.

Oregon is getting a lot of love, statistically, because of their ranking in total offense. Of course, never mind that 1200 of their 1800 yards put up came against Montana and Nevada...Montana, FCS school.

Bama being #1 this week can also be attributed to brand bias. However, in this case, this brand has a decades worth of proof it deserves said bias.

Personally, I'm still seeing Auburn as an 8-4 team. That's likely still a top 25 ranking at the end of the year. But, like mentioned in this thread about A&M, Bama beating a 8-3 team to close out the season won't be looked at as a quality win. It'll be "such a soft schedule."

Seriously......what 4 teams will AU lose to......
****florida? Come on....Florida aint very good...see this Weekend....
****bama and uga are at AU..... I personally think they are better than uga..
****@ lsu.....be tough for AU to win there....
So....probably a 10-2 team...rather than 8-4.....

Right now if UGA lose to tiggers, then Bama does the same thing! I'm hoping if burn boy beat bullpup, We beat the crap out of then at that jungle!

And to be clear, I’m not saying the Barn’s wins are that quality. Just more quality than most of the wins of the teams ahead of them. Rest of us have had a little bit easier schedule to date. But the tougher teams will come for each of us. My comment was based on today. Who has played the toughest schedule to date and won. As of week 5. Barn will lose a game or 2 and I think Oregon will as well, for what that’s worth.

Yes to all the above except the 10-2 team.

Auburn's offense is not as good as they were last year.
Auburn's defense is not as good as they were last year.
