You can look at this a number of ways. Underrated recruits who excelled. Players who didn't get much playing time at Bama but caught on in the NFL. And then just the guys that had no business being on the field except for their tenacity and competitiveness.
Recruit - I know he was a Shula recruit, but the Cuban Missile was a vastly underrated 3-star, picking Bama over FL Atlantic. Arenas was a game changer for us, contributed mightily to the '08 and '09 successes.
NFL bloomer - Levi Wallace was a great Bama player, surprised he's hung in. Even more surprised that Cam Sims has been in the league as long as he has, very few receptions at Bama.
Grinder - Nick Gentry overachieved, undersized but just refused to stay blocked.
