I have an open-end loan with my bank (credit union) with a credit line of 10k just for emergencies. Balance stays at zero unless a said emergency happens and I need the money quick, I can instantly transfer to my checking if needed. I believe I've used it maybe 2 or 3 times in my 40+ years of banking with them.
