My grandson's birthday is today. He is 25. While he was in grammar school, he thought he was something because he was getting out of school. He didn't like that his sisters got it off too.

I saw a graphic early this morning that said "Happy Veterans Day" and my first thought was "isn't that a day late?" It's wild how I've become so conditioned to think it was supposed to be celebrated on Monday. It as odd as seeing a flag at half-mast Sunday and wondering if it was supposed to be flown that way on this date.

I want to extend my sincere thanks to all veterans today. Thank you for your service so that I have the freedoms that I have today. Special thanks to anyone who is a veteran on this site. A special thanks to my daddy, Buddy Armstrong, 93, a Korean War veteran. He left Florence in 1951, arrived as a 17 year old in Korea as a boy and left the next year as a man. I love and appreciate our veterans! May God bless you all and continue to bless the greatest country in the world!

I think the flags are to be raised to full mast Friday of this week after being down for VP Dick Cheney’s death.

Half-mast recent news references a death, but it is of former Vice President Dick Cheney.
