Here's another angle to consider. What's the role of the Compliance department? I believe we'll all agree, first and foremost, it's education. In other words, making sure the staff members and athletes are fully informed on governing rules. Is it their role to institute self-imposed sanctions if rules are broken? Advisory role, at best, in my view.The bigger question is this. Is it their role to look at prospective employees and assume a "pre-crime" type of role as seen in Minority Report? Not like they know a rule will be broken, but "there's a possibility one might be made so let's cut it off now."
