Former Alabama assistant Jeremy Pruitt hired as Georgia defensive coordinator (report) http://t.co/wpCioalxsx

Jeremy Pruitt made $260K at Alabama in 2012, $540K at FSU in 2013 and is expected to make $850K at Georgia in 2014.

In some cases, money does speak. FSU isn't as financially liquid as a lot of people assume they would be...

Find that interesting, while I understand that FSU may not have as many big donors as a UGA, I would'nt think that 300K would be enough to pull him away. Better yet, I would have thought that FSU could match it in order to keep him.

Who knows the why or reason, but I did hear that he was big buddies with Wil Friend (former UA player) on UGA's staff. I'm sure the allure of doing well in the SEC has big dividends as well. It would seem to me that being in the ACC at FSU would be less of a grind and still have the media love and notoriety.

Damn... thats a great hire. Georgia def. doesn't have the defensive personnel that FSU has but we should see a pretty immediate impact. In the very least they'll be more disciplined and sound fundamentally.

When Kirby's name came up a few days ago Lucky (Shannon Terry) over on 247Sports mentioned something along the lines of Richt stepping down in a few years and they'd hinted at a HCIW type of position. Perhaps they took the same approach to Pruitt?

That would make sense. I'm sure there is a reason, just didn't think that 300k would be enough of a difference to make that jump. Then again, there are all kind of things that go on behind the scenes.

Someone offered me twice what I'm making now...I'd have a hard time saying no. I've been at the same company for 14+ years, I love the company but twice my income would be a tough one to pass up.

I caught a tweet a few minutes ago that I thought was really defining; re: Pruitt's ascent in coaching.

Chase Goodbread suggested he's liable to be paying as much in taxes at UGA as he was making here at Bama as a DB coach. In two years.

Something you said earlier didn't jump out at me when I first read it...until, out of the blue, something crossed my mind.

"Then again, there are all kind of things that go on behind the scenes.
"

A thought—you recall Jimbo had to replace six on his staff over the off-season of 2013? With Pruitt, that makes seven guys who have left that program in a year.

More money or not a lateral move seems odd after just winning the NC. Makes a person wonder if things in Tallahassee aren't as good as they appear

He just displayed an ability to control the "in" offense that GA plays annually, has no past relationship with Fisher or FSU to anchor him there, and gets a great payday. He will implement a better scheme and get better results off the bat. Plus, if he saves GA the two personal fouls, the one pass interference and the typical one or two offsides a typical GA defense gets per game, he'll be a godsend for them in that area alone. A disciplined GA D will be dangerous.

RTR,

Tim

Agreed, Tim. Had Pruitt had the talent that the Dawgs had on D in the 2012-13 campaign, I am not sure UGA could have been beaten. The greatest waste of talent since Ray Goff graced the sidelines between the hedges and in the SEC since Fulmer was a Vile.

I thought folks on here were critical and some skeptical of Neremy when he left us for FSU. Now everyone thinks he's a great hire. I haven't searched 2012 threads so going on memory. Maybe I'm having a senior moment.

Then that was the best $260K that the University of Alabama spent during 2012. JP was sorely missed in 2013.
