šŸˆ Ty Simpson Since Week One Loss to F$U.

The one thing I saw in Ty eyes during that game, was like a deer in your headlight!
It’s different when it’s live and he got frustrated and started seeing ghosts and not trusting his reads and his eyes. As a QB, you have to keep your composure and keep your eyes downfield and NOT look at the incoming rush.

Will our guys stop dropping passes? It’s odd, even Ridley is dropping balls for the Titans. He’s leading the league in drops to date, tied with Lamb. But Lamb has twice as many targets and more than twice as many catches.

Those stats don't mean much. They put up against two low quality teams. I'm not criticizing him, but let's be real with statistics.
Wisconsin is no cupcake. We are playing significantly better since the loss. Ty is impressively accurate. Looks like FSU is better than everyone thought as well currently ranked 7th. Give credit where it's due. Ty took a lot of heat over the first game and deservedly so, but he also has earned props for the last two.

Maybe so, but those numbers would be hard to match on a Friday afternoon in shells
It's funny seeing people just arbitrarily diminish the game against ULM; "17/17 isn't all that."

Just as a juxtaposition:

Power rankings would favor ULM over UTEP by two points on a neutral field. The starting QB for Texas, against UTEP, had nine straight incompletions. It may have been more: I stopped watching at nine.

That's hard to match on a Friday afternoon in shells.

Should have hung in there for one more. It ended up as 10 straight. :)

Simpson can't catch a break with the fans... some dogged him after the FSU game, which was far, far from is fault... and he's been nearly perfect since then, but it doesn't matter because it wasn't against a top 25 team. I get he needs to go out there and prove it against the UGA's of the world, but it's ok to recognize the strides he's made since week 1.

@Brandon Van de Graaff I get where everyone is coming from on both sides of the argument. I we were to quantify his talent, etc. I would imagine it is a lot like divorce court and the truth lies somewhere in between.

Simpson was never as bad as folks made him out to be after FSU and he is not the Heisman contender after 2 games against lessor opponents.

This is what makes me excited for Russell. His poise combined with his accuracy. When he stepped up in the pocket and almost ran with it and then pulled up and threw a dart for a TD pass. Kid has the potential to be better than Bryce Young.

I like the build and size of Mack, but what little we saw last year and the little bit this year.........he tends to be behind and/or low with the ball when pressured. I fully expect for Keelon to be in a situation where AJ was in 2009. Try and keep Russell below 4 games in order to maintain his RS, but if Simpson were to go down, Russell will be the clear cut number 2 before the year is out IMO.

Correct. One of my (many) pet peeves is when fans act like zero good and zero accolades should be dished out to a team or specific player(s) after they play a much lesser team. We see it across all sports, but with this football team and the early results so far this season, one can look beyond the opponent's level of play in some areas and still see where a team, or specific player like Simpson, has done some good things. Things that show promise and improvement.

And to your other point, you nailed in on Russell. And it goes and in hand with the same line of thinking. Just in his short time thus far, you can see he's gifted in a number of ways as a QB... much like Tua showed in his limited appearances as a freshman (especially against an awful Vandy team that season).

The lesser teams argument is so silly to me. Should we beat ULM? Yes, but stats are stats. Wisconsin isn’t a slouch and Ty was damn near perfect against them. This team has played substantially better since FSU and Ty has played awesome. Sometimes this fan base is odd, play bad- this team sucks, play good- it was inferior teams. They do need to do it against UGA, Tennessee, Auburn, etc, but good is good and Ty has been damn good

To add to your point. 73-0, what else should a good team have done to show they are getting better. Only my cynicism drives the negativity, not the facts. So I can tip my hat to this team based on the last 2 games.

I'm gonna be were my feet are with this team.

Williams had two TDs in that game, and his miss one, and he didn't drop it. To me it looks like he misses it. To drop a pass you at least have to have in your hands before you drop it.I guess it like this to some! "You say tomato, I say tomato"? :ROFLMAO:

To me, Ty looked really good against Wisconsin. Him looking good against ULM really just doesn’t mean anything to me…not saying this happened, but beating up on way lesser opponents can often time make a team form bad habits, and give them the mentality that they’re better than they are.

I heard all the hype for Ty this offseason and didn’t truly believe it - but the Wisconsin game made me a believer. Dude’s got some zip in his throws - something I didn’t realize he had.

My only question for Ty now is how he will respond when the team gets hit with adversity in a hostile environment. And that will happen - probably against UGA. He has shown me that he has the physical tools.

Ty has been very impressive the past two weeks. Hopefully he can sustain his hot streak in the upcoming games. To be realistic, I don’t think he can during conference play, the long season and defenses making adjustments to his game. I wish him the very best.

You have already seen this. Simpson got rattled but he did not implode. The real question is has he improved and gained confidence enough and swagger to go on the road and win against one of if not the best overall team they will play this year? I am surprised Bama is only a 4 point underdog against UGA. Based on my observation of CKD coached teams, they will fold after enough body blows from UGA but that is why they play the game so we will see..

I agree about Mack. I was pretty excited about him last year, but Russell looks better than Mack already.
