⚾ 🥎 🏆⚾ - 2026 CWS Super Regionals: SAT: SEC v SEC at 11 with State & UGA / Three tonight with Bama at 9 ET

I've been watching this story for several hours. A lot of "yeah, buts" here.

One thing I saw yesterday while watching UGA fits what happened here. It wasn't as blatant, but it was a "dick move" in my opinion. Early on one of the UGA players hit a HR and waited until he was practically at first base before his little "bat flip." I consider that a taunt; always have.

Setting that aside, though I think it might have context here ...

(For clarity's sake, the UGA coach/response was "his family was behind the 1st base dugout.")

If I had been pitching, the next time up he would have gotten a fastball from the belt area down. I am opposed to throwing intentionally at the head. If you hit a homerun, round the bases and have fun in the dugout area, not on the field.

...which, today, would have earned you a suspension and your coach one as well. I believe it's two games for the HC.

Yeah, I know. It was so much simpler in the old days with the exception of throwing to the head. Bob Gibson and Don Drysdale would flat out go for the chin. Pedro Martinez who played for Boston was probably the last pitcher that would nail you if you showed him up.

Did you see the report of the coach being suspended (lifetime, I believe) because he instructed his pitcher to throw into the opposing teams' dugout? I can't remember what started that fiasco.

It's just too much. Glad he was tossed. Be excited, celebrate with your team, but all the pimping, choreography, LOOK AT ME!, and peacocking is unnecessary. Contrast that HR with Hines' blast from last night... Hines was (very) excited and showing it running around the bases, but he never peacocked or tried to show up OSU.

Wes Johnson has done an incredible job with the Bulldogs since taking over... but they are now closing in very quickly on what the Vols were under Vitello... and I don't just mean the wins the pile up. They have a rep now for how they act and behave, which in many cases, leads to a shorter leash from the umpire crews.

Either her gets it or the next batter, right in the ribs!!
Celebrate with your team, don’t make it about you! You chirped at the dugout, or according to your coach “to his parents, bullshit by the way, but you continued your chirping at the first baseman and the second baseman. You got run and it was deserved. I can see defending your guys, but HC Johnson had no leg to stand on to be honest.
Early my senior year, I destroyed a ball and talked shit in a simulated game with my HC on the mound. Now, he didn’t throw BP fastballs, he actually pitched! Next time up, doink right of the helmet! He then said, “never show up a pitcher and never let a batter show you up!” Later that season, guy hits a bomb off of me and stood there and watched. I looked in the dugout and my HC never said a word. Next time he came to the plate, I buried a fastball in his ribcage!
