⚾ 🥎 🏆 🥎 - 2026 NCAA WCWS : TX repeats as National Champs

Sucks for it to end, especially a win away from the Championship series, but what a season. This team has been an absolute joy to watch all year, from that first tournament at Georgia Tech where they played HR derby to this weekend in OKC where they sent 2 other teams packing. IMO, the big stage tonight had an impact on some of the players... this was the first time in that stadium, on that stage, for most of them. But, they now have that experience there which will be huge in the future. The team will lose a couple of great players and leaders in Giles and Pupillo. A very versatile and underrated Kristen White is also gone... but a core group of the offense returns... and that includes some really, really good hitters. The defense will be excellent again, and you can't ask for a better situation for the returning pitching. Briski with another season under her belt and now Moten with a full year of experience where she's been learning new pitches during the season. If they can hold onto the depth there, the staff in '27 will be excellent. Also, hopefully, they can hold onto Lance McMahon... he is excellent.

Bottom line, this team has plenty of talent returning and can add a couple of pieces in the portal where needed. As of now, they should be at least a tad better next year, led by that pitching staff. And with the scares they earned today, I'd expect a different outcome should they end up in the same position a year from now.

Well some folks have talked about the goofy TT head coach but give him credit. He beat the #1 overall team in the tournament twice in one night and really out coached the Bama coaches. He’s a heck of a coach. I hate to say it but….Go Longhorns!!

He has one of the top 3 pitchers in the country and she went out there and pitched arguably her best game of the season in game 2. Nothing against Glasco, but all he had to do was not fuck it up.

We seem intimidated by an average pitcher. They paid her a million, she’s not a million dollar arm. Our ladies need to grow some hair?

You post some really ignorant shit sometimes. It would be easier to digest if it was balanced out some with some occasional intelligent posts, but it isn't.

What a season, I believe the ladies exceeded all reasonable expectations.

That said, it’s tough to see the top offense in the land get shut out in the final game. The top offense our lineup just didn’t bring the sticks tonight. Our 1-4 hitters had a total of 2 hits across the two games. Not going to win any games with those stats.

I do not want to see Tech win a bought title, but they are looking hard to stop at this point. 2 lock down pitchers and some very clutch hitters up and down the lineup. Having two dominant pitchers like that is an easy recipe for success.

For 2027, we need to make sure we don’t lose any of our talent to Texas Tech, who will be replacing about 7 starters. They will have the black gold (Texas tea) flowing to build another super team. Hurts enough seeing a former Gator and Vol eat our lunch, but it would be worse to see a former Bama player over there.

Reflecting a bit this morning on the headlines we read 15 years ago. And even farther back.

15 years ago a lot of the media were in a frenzy with the "bought titles" storylines including LeBron, Wade, and Bosch in Miami. It was like a main course after the appetizer of Garnett, Pierce, and Ray Allen in Boston.

If we exchange Michigan football, or Indiana football, with Boston ... and then use TTU as a replacement for Miami ...

Where's the frenzy?

Congratulations to our ladies and the incredible season they just completed! Last night was just one of those nights where you just cant win for whatever reason. Best wishes to the ladies that graduated and are now moving into another chapter in life.

@Rolltide24

Arent they all bought now????
We pay. They pay.

Indiana. Tex Tech. Michigan. OSU. Texas( will see a big surge here).
Just a matter of who has most $$$$. And where they want ro spend it.

Are all rosters assembled the same way? It's not a question of if they are getting paid.

In a very real sense this is a later adaptation to Mack Brown and his career at Texas. He reached a point where he truly believed he should, and could, recruit from behind his desk. He wasn't out "beating the bushes," so to speak.

An easy analogy to make with rosters? Some are just like 1099'd contractors on a job site and others are employees.

We have to get used to the new landscape. Even if our girls didn’t win, I like our roster and program. We have some “home grown” talent on our team, girls that have been there multiple years and have developed within the program. Tech has 1 girl from their top 14 that meets that description. Rosters were built in very different ways. I would be disappointed if we lose any of our players to Tech as they re-load their roster.

I bet some go after some of our younger girls.
And cant blame them if the chase the $$$$.

Its an opportunity to be set up in life or made after ball easier. Have an education.... a bunch of cash....

Not a million $$$ but a bunch anyway

Yeah. There some of that

One reason its easy to believe that KD will be successful. Keep bringing in talent. Get right type. Have good coaching. Build reputation.
Success will follow

He has a chance.

Murph doing it in softball. Basketball HC also.

I'll use CKD as the example. They have an approach that's basically 30/30/30 (and shuffle 10 percent.) 30 out of the high school ranks, 30 percent current players, and the other 30 they'll use to plug holes through the portal.

7 of 9, versus 1 of 3, are on the same math scale...where minutes can turn to miles.

You've jumped head first into the weeds here.

I dont know bout that.

Might get something a non athlete might get.

Car. Job preferences. Little savings.

But for couple years. Get a little name recognition.
All... probably not. Some ... for sure
Some will be smart about the opportunity; both educationally and financially. That percentage will be smaller than what we currently see in the professional ranks.

I keep seeing (especially on social media), idiot fans (and sadly many Bama fans) blaming Audrey Vandagriff for giving poor effort on the HR last night by Texas Tech. While I understand many people are just dense and can't comprehend this, it wasn't an effort issue. She misjudged the ball coming down and misplayed it. It sucks. It was not a good defensive play. But it had nothing to do with effort. She has struggled some defensively all season long, which is the reason she gets lifted for a defensive replacement sometimes late in games. It sucks, but it happens. But if you're a Bama fan, and you're throwing her under the bus for her effort, you suck.

And while I'm at it here... passes have been give to the chicken hawks that wanted Murphy canned the last couple of years. Some, a few anyway, maybe had solid intentions, even if they were a taco short of a combination plate. Many, most even, were just emotional children who have little to no understanding of the big picture and were acting out, hoping he'd fail and be fired so they could take some weird victory lap over it. So with that, commutations given, if you still think Murphy needs to be fired after this season.... you're an idiot.
