COLUMBIA, S.C. – Trailing by three runs in the top of the sixth, sophomore KJ Haney came through with the pinch-hit grand slam to push Alabama ahead of South Carolina Friday night, eventually winning 7-5.

Alabama (26-4, 4-3 SEC) trailed early after a two-run second inning from South Carolina (18-11, 2-5 SEC). The Crimson Tide cut the deficit in half in the top the third, scoring on a throwing error, but the Gamecocks tacked on three more in the bottom half of the inning to make it 5-1. A Kaylee Tow RBI single in the fourth made it a three-run game and Alabama started to gain momentum in the top of the sixth, loading the bases with two out. Pinch hitter KJ Haney then took the second pitch of her at-bat down the left-field line for a go-ahead grand slam, putting the Tide ahead 6-5. Tow added an insurance run with a seventh inning solo home run, pushing the score to its eventual final tally of 7-5.

Tow and Jenna Johnson tallied multi-hit performances, including two RBIs from Tow. Ashley Prange pulled a single through the left side in her final at-bat, extending her hitting streak to a season-high seven games, just two shy of her career best. Looks like she got all of that one. Did not see the game but did Fouts give up 5 earned runs or were some unearned? For whatever reason it feels like she is giving up more runs than she had done in the past.

The team has as well when compared to last season. This years schedule has more ranked teams, to date, than last season as well.

She's up a tad in ERA; less than a .25 as I recall.

IMHMI...when did Bama change its colors from Crimson and White to Black, with Crimson and White trim? Quit fooling around with the Universities colors. Why do they do that?

ROLL TIDE!

I'm not a fan of the charcoal they wore yesterday. They're in the gray and crimson today.

After seeing 11 different uniforms last season I was a little relieved to only see six this season.

Just my opinion, but I believe hitters now know that she only has one speed and relies on location. It's always going to be heat and a rise ball or drop. She has no off speed stuff that I've seen.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Alabama softball put on an offensive showcase Saturday against South Carolina, downing the Gamecocks 10-2 to clinch the weekend series.

Alabama (27-4, 5-3 SEC) took advantage of a South Carolina (18-12, 2-6 SEC) throwing error in the second inning to score the first run of the game, adding a second on a Dallis Goodnight RBI single. Another fielding error the next inning made it a 3-0 lead for the Tide where it remained until the bottom of the fourth, when the Gamecocks' first hit of the day stayed fair down the right field line for a double, driving in a pair to make it a one-run game. In the top of the fifth, Kaylee Tow bounced a double off the wall in right center, driving in two runners to make it 5-2.

A sac fly RBI from Ashley Prange in the sixth made it 6-2 before Ally Shipman sent a ball to the right field gap, bouncing off the glove of the diving center fielder and allowing her to hustle all the way home on the inside-the-park home run, scoring two to make it 8-2. Jenna Johnson made it 10-2 with a two-run homer in the seventh before the Tide defense retired the side in order in the bottom half to close out the win.

Tow posted her second multi-hit game of the weekend, now batting 4-for-7 with four RBIs in two games against the Gamecocks. Shipman's inside-the-park home run was the ninth in program history and just the third to occur away from Rhoads Stadium. Looks like Montana decided to come straight at them with the heat. Struck out 16 tying her career best. Ump was a stickler, he didn’t appear to understand hitting the corner of the plate. Think Murphy let him know it. A sweep on the road, good series.
