| FTBL There have been many crimes against humanity in our species’ history Ashton Jeanty not winning the 2024 Heisman might be the worst of them all

By the time UGA rolled into Tuscaloosa we were in the second week of hearing the "sports reporters" talking about playoff berths.

It dawned on me we hadn't heard a lot about the trophy this season; very little when compared to other seasons.

Speculation as to why? The playoffs killed the prestige to the Heisman (and other awards) in year one.

Heisman is a popularity contest, it always has been. When Payton Manning didn’t win it, I quit worrying about that thing.

I can’t believe all the awards Hunter won. Biletnikoff? He’s the top receiver in football? Numbers don’t show that. Bednarick? He’s the best defensive player in all of football? That’s a tough one to back up too. He was good on both sides of the ball, no doubt. But he was clearly not the best player separately on each side of the ball, I’d say he was neither.

T Hunter > Charles Woodson… He deserved it.. But it was a real indictment on the Colorado University Education system, indeed… What a completely embarrassing speech… Even worse than Lamar Jackson… I didn’t think being worse than that was possible, until Saturday night..

Let's step back a little and look at the year Deion "came on the market." I said at the time I didn't want him down there because of his personality, his marketing skills, which in turn would lead to some really good football classes.

Now, if you look at The Heisman voters—roughly 930—there are something like 870 AP writers (not all covering football.) Yes, it's a popularity contest a lot of the time. This season, in my view, looked like one where the had their own circle jerk and operated in their circle. They were manipulated by Deion. He became their storyline and he wrote the story.

Maybe be.

No way Woodson was better college football player than Payton though.

That was the only Heisman show that was a complete screw job… most all of the everyone involved nowadays, know who the winner is, … But that Manning/ Woodson show was an obvious screw job… and it’s never happened again, after the backlash.. Hell, even Woodson was stunned his name was called...
