I find this list funny, I'm not sure why, but these are the guys USM fans are talking about to be their next coach.

Tyrone Nix
Terry Bowden
Hugh Nall ;scr
David Cutcliffe ;sus

Jeff Bower

Since I think Jeff Bower is one good coach, there must be an opportunity for him out there. He deserves better than USM, and USM doesn't warrant a quality coach. Sort of like the brain trust at Ol Sis firing Cutcliff. USM will have to hire a hungry assistant who wants a chance to prove himself (and move on before the guillotine falls!)

I think Southern Miss should have kept Jeff Bowers. He did a good job in my view.

Yep, and Jeff Bowers and the Golden Eagles also beat Mike Dubose and the Crimson Tide in Birmingham. :(

Was that 21-0 monsoon game at Legion Field? I was there, and that was a demoralizing game.

Was Bowers coach when they beat us Coach Stallings' first year, or did he start one year after that?

I was there, too. The wheels really fell off. Dubose couldn't decide whether he wanted to play Andrew Zow or Tyler Watts.

I was shocked when they canned Bowers. he's done well in a place where it is not easy to do well. I think that Tyrone Nix would be a great hire for them, and he really deserves a shot.

If they hire DuBose they deserve whatever happens to them. The man is just not CEO material.

That was Curley Hallman. Bower took over after Hallman took the LSU job at the end of the regular season.

Brett Favre probably had more to do with our loss than Curly, though as I remember we had some major turn over and special teams issues that day.

Doubtful. As I remember it, Favre was hurt.
