The Resident College Football Expert Week 6: In All His Glory

Written By: RollTideRandy

The Resident College Football Expert was, as his wife exclaimed (Mrs. Expert), in all his glory last week. What a fabulous week of football we had the joy to witness last week, loyal readers. Here are the highlights, in case you missed it.

Bama 41 UGA 30 (Bama 31 UGA 0 in half one)
If this is the first you are hearing about this game, then The Expert has to question your choice of web sites while you are surfing the World Wide Web. Obviously this is a site for those that follow Bama football. Anyway, this black-out turned funeral was a thing of beauty from start to finish. One of the top 5 games of the new millennium.

Ole Missy 31 Florida 30
The Expert can’t decide what was the best part, Florida’s first fumble, Florida’s second fumble, Florida’s third fumble, the missed extra point, or Tebow getting stuffed on 4th and one. Regardless, there was a little feeling of Karma in this game. Had Urban moved Tebow to LB, like he has told every QB recruit for the past three years he was going to, he might have won this game. For the rest of this season, Tim Tebow will be referred to as Mr. FumbleFingersCan’tRunForOneYard Man.

Maryland 20 Clem and his Son 17

You have to hand it to good old Tommy Bowden, he certainly is unpredictable. You just never know when his team will play up to their talent level and win or when they will choke and lose. Maybe it’s time for Tommy to place another call to Nick Saban to figure out how to put a game away when you’re dominating the first half because if all you have is a weak little eleven point lead, you might just choke and lose by three.

Navy 24 Wake Forest 17

The pain continues for the ACC. Not a single undefeated team left. Wake learned the hard lesson that big wins over Florida State can only be celebrated for 24 hours then you have to focus on your next opponent, even if it’s sad little Navy. If you lose focus, you can turn the ball over six times, give up 250 yards rushing, and suffer an embarrassing defeat.

Oregon St 27 USC 20
Not too shocking, right? The Expert told you from the beginning it just seems sometimes that Pete Carroll’s heart isn’t in it. He always flubs one in weeks 2-5. He seems to need a new challenge like another go round in the NFL perhaps?

North Carolina 28 Miami 24
The “Fire Randy Shannon” watch is on. The problem is, no one at Miami is watching anything. They aren’t watching the games, they aren’t watching the highlights, and they aren’t watching their team spiral into mediocrity. That’s exactly why this may never stop.

Rice 77 North Texas 20
