DirecTV is reportedly rethinking their NFL Sunday Ticket offering due to cord cutting.

Mark Cuban's tweet below, at some point the NBA may rethink their scheduling, as there are only ~18 regular season games on ABC this season.

How will cord cutting impact college sports in the future?

Ratings are down because all of our national broadcasts are exclusively available on cable,

Yet, there was a decline in the ratings for the finals last season which were aired on ABC.

Are they ignoring in the elephant in the room? People tired of their BS?

That was the direction I was going to take this, but I opted to fast forward the timeline a bit.

Gotta wonder how this plays out. Due to the contract lengths, they've lost the ability to be nimble and adjust to demands quickly.

A really good question. It would all depend on how the games are picked for which network (ESPN, the Deuce, the U, and then SECN?) Assuming it's in that order, how many are willing to pay for the game if it's, literally, the fifth game of the week chosen?

The younger generation consumes television much different than the previous generations. How will TV contracts change with leagues (NBA, NFL, etc) or conferences like the SEC in the future?

Older generations also have changed their habits, whether that be due to budget constraints or just priority changes...I'm slowly falling into this group.

Can they do enough to capture and convert customers to paying customers? Guess we'll find out.

When I married in the mid 70’s, I would never have thought I’d pay to watch TV, listen to a radio or have a phone where I can do both.
But at my age I spend far less time watching TV than ever before. After football season I’ll drop the paid TV and pick it back up next August.

No doubt. It's crazy how we've become accustomed to spending so much on TV and cell service. Luckily I'm still on my cell phone plan from my previous employer $40 per line unlimited everything.

As a cord cutter, I haven't watched anything live in years. But I do have to find ways of getting shows that I enjoy watching

I have been cordless for as long as the SEC Net. was launch. Not really miss watching cable, only the Bama games. Now I have chance my Internet from Satellite to Xsteam which I get from Roanoke Telephone Company. I can watch all the Netflix, Hulu, Slings without it buffing!

Easiest thing to do is to jump between providers when the deal is up. You'll save that way.

As long as you actually have options. Some folks only have one option (or in my case only one option makes any sense to use).

Good point. I've dealt with limited options for a while in Texas based on how providers get rights to subdivisions when they run the infrastructure. Single internet, single power providers, a few options for TV now.

My options are further limited where we'll eventually be in Montana - satellite providers only. I still haven't found an antenna that will work with mountains situated they was there are between me and the main antennas.

Yeah, data caps alone are no buene for me. Luckily I get DSL for Internet, but TV is satellite the only traditional option if you're willing to fork over money, which I'm not. Once the snow melts I'll continue my quest for OTA. Tempted to mount the antenna on a telescoping flag pole or a tree.
