🏈 The Good, The Bad and The Ugly vs. South Carolina

Good: 2nd team offense punches it in the 4th. I liked the RBs getting great passing touches

Bad: Giving up as many rushing yards as we did, not sure of amount but think it was 100+

Ugly: Giving up 300 yards passing to a SEC East team

Good: Tua and the wideouts. Play-calling.

Bad: Defensive front 7 and offensive line (especially in the run game). Inexperience is showing so much on both sides of the trenches. They look soft and particularly in regards to the D-line, unaggressive. They need to tighten up on the penalties.

Ugly: Missed PAT, but I have to say I still feel really good about Reichard and I don't hold it against him too much. He's gonna be a very good one I think.

Good: Offense was better. I think Bama could have had more success running if they chose to. Instead they chose the short passing game. Oh yeah and the receivers are a pretty good group:). Najee had better game.
Bad: Penalties.
Ugly: The defense (take your choice did anyone on that side of the ball play well?). My view is they must get MUCH better.

Good - Tua and company. Also, have to give a nod to Sark for his play calling. The line is struggling, so he responded with a ton of quick passes to make sure Tua wasn't having to take very many hits. Also opened up some holes in the running game down the line.

Bad - Defense. Where do I start? Defensive line barely got ANY movement all day, pass rush was non existent when there wasn't a blitz coming. Tackling was absolutely hideous. Watching our guys getting rag dolled on missed tackles was so pathetic. The defensive backfield, which should be the strength of their defense, got their asses handed to them SEVERAL times. I am very worried about the A&M and LSU games.

Ugly - Good grief this offensive line is just flat out awful. Dickerson is much better at guard than center but I am 100% over his antics. Here's to hoping Brown can win his spot back. I like that he loves football and is passionate but when you take things with all the shit talking and taunting to the point where your teammate literally has to shield you from the defender to shut you up, it's too much. Just freaking play. And I really, really try not to bury anyone too much but man, Owens is just not a good football player. He is slow and when he doesn't block the wrong damn person he's getting shoved five yards into the backfield or left trying to block air. This is going to be a big, big problem in West Georgia. The fact that Najee can't pick up a blitz to save his life doesn't help matters.

I know he only wants one but damn it the kicking game has to go here too. I would be perfectly fine if I never see Skyler DeLong ever touch a football again for the rest of my life. I think we spoke too soon about our kicker, too.

Good:
-Tua and the receivers. They're covering up so many issues in all 3 phases right now... OL is still a little iffy in terms of the standard running game and at times pass blocking. This group is just so efficient playing pitch and catch all over the field. I've said it a lot of times but geez... Enjoy this Tua thing. We will never see anything like it again

-RB improvement. Obviously the N. Harris play was just ridiculous... Freak athlete... But even aside from that, it looks like he's really making an effort to play more North and South. His receiving out of the backfield was tremendous all day. Didn't see a lot from B. Robinson but I loved seeing little K. Robinson go in there and try to push the pile... I think he's got what it takes, right now.

Bad:
-Pass rush. Just a lack of consistency. Jennings made the big play which was a pleasant surprise. So far there has been little to no push up the middle... And actually when Barramore came in I loved that nasty streak he showed. Unfortunate he will be out next week as well. I'm shocked we aren't seeing more Chris Allen or some type of rotation with some pass rushers. Hopefully soon

-DB's. McKinney and Diggs look like Saban DB's. Surtain is close. Past that it's a huge work in progress. It appears Battle will be a stud at some point but needs seasoning. My concern is with Mayden and Shy Carter. They just don't play with the physical aggression you'd expect from Saban DB's... Shy is tiny and slow, and Mayden looks hesitant on any type of open field tackling situation. He tried to make 1 big hit which was good but didn't get the dude down, other than that he looks reactionary. Hoping Battle gets to the point he can play every down, sooner than later.

-Owens at C. His snapping was shaky today and not sure the blocking was much better. I'm starting to feel pretty confident that when Brown comes back he will step right in and Dickerson will move to C. 3 games in there's still some question marks there on the interrior.

-Special Teams. Got bailed out by the holding call on that fake punt... But the shit punt and missed FG weren't a good look.

Ugly:
-Potential injury issues. L. Ray leaving the game and hearing of others having issues gave me some flashbacks to last season. Got to keep these dudes healthy. RTR

This is what I felt like reading your response:

Ya know, that happens with your guard steps on your foot.

I think we spoke too soon about our kicker, too.
If you are not practicing with your line, snapper, and holder you'll never be consistent in the kicking game.

Blaming the kicker is off. Way off.

Blaming the practice schedule and the way Saban has chosen to handle the kicking game? Spot on.

Had not really heard about this part of it until recently but it makes a lot of sense. We keep getting these supposedly great kickers and then they are mediocre at best in the games. If it were a player thing you would see at least one or two either be good out of the gates or improve year over year but we really never see that. Has to come down to coaching in some way at that point.
